s/o neck pains - pillows?
I saw the post below on neck pains. I get these off and on from my desk job too.
Has anyone here tried those curved foam pillows? Do you like them? Do they help? Any other suggestions?
Re: s/o neck pains - pillows?
do you mean for when you sleep? I have tried the Temperpedic foam pillow they sell at Brookstone. It has been really good for me, but it is like $100-150.
I think some people like those Asian round (cylindrical) pillows too that go right under the neck, you know the kind that feel like they have small beans or something in them. I don't really have experience with those though.
good luck finding something that helps you!
yes. sleeping pillows. I have been eyeing some of theose s shaped tempurpedic ones for awhile now. Do they work? Are they comfortable to lay on?
I have a contoured tempurpedic pillow that I first got when I was having some neck pains... I do think that it helps...worth the money since it is your health that you are talking about (though I got mine cheap at a wholesale price through some of my parents' friends)
also good to look into getting an ergonomic chair and keyboard at work..and to make sure your computer monitor is in the right place... if anything is slightly off it can cause long term problems with your neck, back, or wrists. sometimes you can convince your work to pay for these things if you explain that paying worker's comp for the pain problems is more expensive :P

I have a memory foam one that I paid much less for. I brought it into my chiropractor to ask what he thought, he said it was great. So thankfully I only spent like $40 or something like that. It was awhile ago. Bought it at like Bed Bath n Beyond, but I've seen them many places.
Here is what it looks like:
This is pretty much exactly what I was going to write. I've tried the special pillows before, but I'm too restless of a sleeper for them to be effective. I think the special pillows are really only useful if you sleep on your side and don't move much. I've found I have the best results with a regular medium firmness pillow (not too soft, but not the really firm one either).
