What foods would you have for a luau-themed party?

I'm completely drawing a blank right now.  This is for my son's b-day in December.

Thanks!

Re: What foods would you have for a luau-themed party?

  • I found some really good stuff on this site ---
    http://www.kids-birthday-party-guide.com/luau-birthday-party.html

*Kid Kebabs: skew cubes of ham, cheese, pineapple, and cherries on wooden skewers.
    *Fruit Salad
    *Fruit Kebabs
    *Hawaiian Pizza
*Bananas dipped in marshmallow and coconut
*Pineapple wedges on toothpicks with cherries on top
*Scooped out oranges filled with sherbet
    *Green Pasta
    *Shrimp or Tuna Salad
    *Grilled Salmon

Octo-dogs (Hotdogs that look like tiny octopuses. Cut all the hotdogs in half - but not all the way - only so that they open. Then you slice halfway up four times on each half so that you have eight dangling sections. Place in boiling water and watch them curl up like arms!!!) Fish-shaped tuna sandwiches (Use a fish cookie cutter) Pasta shells Seaweed pasta (Green linguine) Fish sticks Jellyfish sandwiches (Peanut Butter and jelly-fish)

There are cake ideas and everything. Just google it if you want to because there is SO much out there.

  • kalua pork, macaroni salad, white rice, salad, fresh fruit, tropical themed drinks, pinapple upside down cake maybe, coconut shrimp, teriaki chicken or beef

  • There's quite a few foods I'd recommend/suggest but I think it would be easier if you maybe checked out how I've done the luaus I've hosted in the past... with recipes too! Smile

1st Annual What's Cookin Chicago Summer Luau

    Love me a Luau!

  • Everyone has given such great suggestions.

In addition to that, I have a super easy and delicious recipe:

     Pineapple Pie

-1 16oz tub of sour cream

-1 large can of crushed pineapple

-1 large instant vanilla pudding mix

    -1 graham cracker crust

Mix together sour cream, pineapple and pudding mix  and pour into graham cracker shell.

    Refrigerate for 2+ hours.
