So about those nursing covers...
I hate them! I tried to use one the other day at Starbucks and it was awful. So big and obvious. I just nursed Alexa using her baby blanket to shield me. Maybe it'll be more useful as she gets bigger?
I'll try it again, maybe it takes practice. First try was just a disaster, trying to get it over my head, stop her crying, get my boob out, all while being chill and in public! Eeek! Any tips, moms?
Also.... Look at this! You can get a strap to help hold your baby blanket over you like a nursing cover! I just ordered one and plan to try it out... Will report back...

Re: So about those nursing covers...
It definitely takes practice
I used it a handful of times in public but what we ended up using the nursing cover for was attaching it the peep area on top of our stroller so when DS fell asleep, we could cover up the front of the stroller (this was when he was out of the baby seat)...I still use it for that w/our BOB.
I really like the idea of having a clip for the baby blanket!
Ooooh... Really? How old? They PULL the blanket off? How rude! LOL

I haven't gotten a cover yet and had thought to use just a blanket but totally didn't think about how they could pull it off when they were older!!! hmmm...

Great find re. the strap for the baby blanket, Malia! Let us know how you find it!
Maya never liked me putting anything over her whilst I b/f her...it was only the odd occasion where I was able to hold a blankie over her whilst b/f'ing.
Do you have a shawl, by any chance? I'm talking about the ones that have only a hole for you to pop your head through and it sits/hangs from your shoulders, down to your waist. Might also be a good alternative, especially if it's a light, summery fabric that won't be too heavy on Alexa.
I clicked on this link from the website for the straps. A bit off-track but wondering if these are any good...hmmmm: http://www.thewoombie.com/
I had planned to make one if need be but not worry too much about it.
I think I said before I watched a new mom struggle with one (on more than one occassion) at MH's softball games over the summer. It seemed WAY too big on her - is there any way to make it a little smaller (I think your mom sews...). That poor mom was always so frazzled by the time she faught with it an got it on she was usually not entirely covered up anyways.
I think the clip sounds neat - like being at the dentist - haha.
Do you have a moby or ring sling? There are always posts re: discreetly nursing while baby carrying (or using the baby carrier as a cover up). In addition to the Moby I plan to get a ring sling - something like this and will be trying out that technique.
LOL - Totally like the dentist!
I have a hotsling and nursed her in it but while sitting down and with another blanket draped over us as well. That seemed to work. She is so tiny right now and latches on really easily, so that has been helpful!
I'll report back on the clip!

I actually really like mine...it took awhile to figure out, but it works for us. The real reason I like it that Ashton is so hot natured and a regular blanket is too hot but the cover I have has an opening at the top for me to look at him and it helps to keep him cooler.
I started out using a blanket with my first DD, but by the time she was six months old she started to pull the blanket off. After experiencing that a few times I bought a Hooter Hider and problem solved.
this exactly! Bella is a hot box like her daddy!
