Fall wardrobe in Hawaii weather?
New to the board, so hello!
My husband and I moved to Hawaii a few months ago. I am on a trip home to the East Coast visiting with family and I can't help but be a little bit sad that I am missing out on fall weather and getting to wear sweaters, scarves, boots, etc!
What do you do to add a little umph to your wardrobe as the seasons change? Am I alone in this or do you experience similar woes?
Re: Fall wardrobe in Hawaii weather?
I expereince similar woes living in Northern California. It's still hot here - 103 today. I want Fall!
But I am interested to hear about 'seasons' in Hawaii......are there seasons in Hawaii? If only I could get MH to move I could find out for myself!
hey, I'm the OP. I just realized I posted using an old account that I was accidently signed into. Whoops!
Anyway, we've only lived in HI since the beginning of the summer so I haven't actually been here for the seasons. From what I hear, there is not a whole lot of fluctuation but the winter gets to be a bit cooler (70s-high 60s?) and rainier. There are definitely seasons (as there are anywhere in the world) but not the same seasons you think of with falling leaves, snow, etc.
Any locals on here with some experience?
Aloha and welcome to the board. There's a nice mix of local girls as well as girls who had destination weddings, so I hope you get a good response. Seems to me that when I was in Hawaii last November the only difference in attire I saw was maybe more long pants (jeans, etc.) and sweatshirts/light sweaters...with slippahs, of course!
I lived in NorCal most of my life where we pretty much have two types of weather...sunny and warm or cool and damp. So now that I am in the midwest, I love that there are four distinct seasons to appreciate. Fall is my favorite!

Hi lindsay/alohawife! Congrats on your move to HI...I am so so jealous!! I grew up there, but now live on the East Coast. Agree with pp--there is not much in the way of "seasons", just a 5 - 10 degree shift. If you live there long enough you definitely start to notice that it is is cooler in winter and warmer in the summer, but I would say if you grew up on the EC it will take a long time to get used to the very subtle shifts!
The one thing I really remember was having to get up really early to go to HS and how cold it could be in the mornings in Dec/Jan/Feb. But then it would heat up a little later in the day so for example the area where the seniors hung out was always covered in discarded sweatshirts and sweatpants as the day went on.
Although I do miss having amazing weather year-round, I do very much like the fall, the crisp air and changing of the leaves, and getting to wear cute coats and skirts with tights. I figure it's a trade off!
Welcome Lindsay! I'm becky, and a fairly new hawaii resident, too (just moved here in January). Welcome to the board!
I've not really noticed much in the way of seasons around here, except that there are a lot more flowers blooming now than there were in January.
And I so miss fall!
During summer, I wear more short shorts and bright, happy colors -- whites, pinks, oranges.
During winter, I wear more jeans, usually carry a sweater with me, and wear more darker colors -- greens, blacks and browns.
I lived on the mainland for 7 years, so I totally miss the seasons, especially Fall. I love to decorate my house at Halloween and Thanksgiving (and of course Christmas), but that's pretty much the extent of seasonal changes for me.
