I booked the wrong flight ... now what?

I'm supposed to go to an OOT wedding in Missouri in a couple of weeks. As I've started to get all my travel necessities in order, I thought about looking up my e-tickets to make sure all was good.

Well it wasn't!

I booked the flights (dep/arr) for the WRONG dates. I can't believe I did that. I plan on calling tomorrow to speak to someone in customer service.

Any advice (other than double, triple checking my calendar before I click submit) .... I'm sure it will cost me ... I just hope it isn't too much.

Thanks. Just needed to vent.

Re: I booked the wrong flight ... now what?

  • Haha...random question, but is the bride named Christmas?

I ask because DH and I are going to MO in 2 weeks for her wedding...and I just thought that was random and weird you were too.

  • No, the bride's name is Jordan. I actually know the Groom from high school, and his name is Aaron.

But that would've been funny if we were attending the same wedding.

I just got off the phone with AA and it's gonna cost me around 220 to get on the right plane. I'm debating about even going now ... when I add up what i already paid for the original ticket + the price of the new ticket + hotel + money to have while there + everything else .... it just makes my head hurt.

DH is telling me not to make a decision right now. I had planned on going solo, and I was going to meet an old HS friend there. Dangit!!! What was I thinking when I booked the flight?

  • Call reservations. You'll have to pay the change fee (per ticket) plus the difference in the fares. If you're high up in a frequent flyer program you MIGHT be able to talk your way out of the fees, but I highly doubt it. I think change fees are either $100 or $125, depends on the airline. It's not a big hassle, but it is an expensive one.

  • If you don't go, you can apply this fare towards another one in the future, but you will STILL have to pay a $100 fee plus fare difference. So you might as well suck it up and go.

I've totally done this before. Ended up staying an extra night in Mexico because of it
