First off, BIG thanks to Matt for taking the time to call me days before he moves to India with Maddy to begin writing his book. I am in awe of his kindness and strength.
I wanted to know how we could help Philip right now by asking what helped him during this time... money, home cooked meals, formula for Gabby.... what...
1.) As suspected, he said that meals aren't the best idea, although the thought is nice. Philip likely won't be able to hold any food down for awhile.
2.) Formula and formula checks will help tremendously. I am trying to find out what formula Gabby is on so I can post it on my blog and here and let Matt know. He has some formula and a bunch of checks at the foundation that he can give us when we know.
3.) I need to get an address where this stuff can be mailed. Should I set up a PO Box? Or do one of you guys have one already?
4.) He liked when people just started doing stuff, without asking "what can I do for you?" I know this is coming off wrong, and that's my fault because I am still losing my mind over this, but he didn't know how people could help when they asked. But if family just showed up and mopped his floor, that helped. He didn't even have to think about it.
5.) Money. Money helped at first. He suggested a paypal account, and linking that to blogs, and I am happy that this is in process!
6.) There are other things that are death certificate/SSN# related that his family will need to help with, so maybe we can work that through her nephew Kyle when it's time.
He said that he is here for Philip any time of any day when he's ready. I gave Philip his contact info, but Matt doesn't think it would be good to call him. It's best to wait until Philip is ready to reach out, which makes total sense.
If I think of anything else I will add to this.
Re: matt logelin's suggestions
Awesome suggestions. Thanks for getting in touch, ho.
I have formula to donate. It's Similac.
I have a PO box.
Kim, thank you so much for talking to Matt. I know I'd be a bumbling idiot trying to talk to him and you finding the strength to do it is amazing.
Sounds like we're on the right track.
CRAFTY ME
my read shelf:
I get formula checks all the time that I never use. Let me know and I can definitely send those when we get an addy to send them to. I also have those coupons for free diapers that i got for the Ellen Show that I can send as well.
Kim thanks for calling and sharing the suggestions.
When we get a link set up for the paypal, I am also happy to put it on my blog as well.
Also, the Liz Logelin Foundation isn't set up yet to distribute funds yet, but aims to help people within the first year of the loss of a life. There's paperwork we would need to submit (death certificates, etc) and he hates that it has to be done, but of course it's necessary to prevent fraud and all of that. We'll follow up on this one once someone in the family is ready to deal with it.
Until then, they can definitely help with formula checks.
After 2 rounds of IVF & 2 rounds of FET, we were blessed with identical twin girls!
We can use your dad's or mine, it does not matter to me. Mine isn't getting much use lately, which is why I suggested it.
Either one is fine. Thank you both for offering!
I hope to get the formula info soon so we can get the checks rolling in!

Let's use yours. I don't go to the PO all that often.
Thanks Wee.
Thanks kim for getting this rolling and thanks to Matt for all his help.
My company makes similac and I am in the process of seeing if I can get some formula donated. From what I'm getting it sounds like they've only done it for actual employees but even if that doesn't work I can get formula for less than the stores.
Sounds good.
this. thank u so much kim.
Just remembered... the paypal money Matt got in the beginning helped pay for Liz's funeral service, casket, etc. Many people aren't expecting a $15,000+ expense like that so suddenly. So he said money definitely helps.
