Favorite Band / Singer / Performber

What is your favorite band? I am just curious about everyone's music tastes.

Re: Favorite Band / Singer / Performber

  • I am glad I can spell today.
  • I have a great love for Jimmy Buffett.

  • Sugarland and Phil Vassar
  • Hopscotch - Phil Vassar came to our little county fair last year. It was like the most amazing thing ever. We usually get one big name person a year. And it is normally someone who just became famous over the last year or so, but he was awesome!

I've seen him twice - he's an amazing performer.  And, I love the fact that he's written a lot of big songs for people like Tim McGraw and JoDee Messina.

  • I like Pepper a lot. Plus Dispatch, Lykke Li, and Ray LaMontagne. And also Zac Brown (my H has been listening to them for years, before they got big, so it may be somewhat sentimental).
  • Holy shizzzz angel, I think I just fell in love. I love pepper too. no one knows who they are!! I've seen them a couple times with Slightly Stoopid (another one of my fav bands)
  • Ray LaMontagne has the most soothing voice.

so cool! I like Slightly Stoopid a lot too, they tend to do shows together which is really nice (just saw them both in WPB in May).

They're so funky fresh! I think Wisemen and Closer to the Sun are my favorite songs by them.

If you like them, you should check out Dispatch--they are very similar but more 'band-y.' They are really, really good.?

And Ray LaMontagne is just awesome. You are the Best Thing was the song on our wedding web site. ?

Oh and PS-my guilty pleasure is rap music--I love, love, love it! (not too much of the new stuff (except the good booty shaking songs by Pittbull and Flo-Rid-A), but I love Jay Z and Nas and Biggie and 2-pac and Trick Daddy. But a lot of that has stopped since the babies got old enough to repeat everything they hear!

  • I've seen Dispatch a couple times. They did a show back in 2002 in Boston. There were about 120,000 people there. It was crazy. I also saw them do their 2 Zimbabwe shows at Madison Square Garden in NYC last summer. I like them a lot. I am an absolute concert junkie, so chances are if the music's not country, I've seen the band in concert at one point in my life.
  • i'm kind of an indie music girl. loove so much its impossible to pick one. some of my favs are:

the strokes, the long winters, spoon, the whigs, of montreal, ryan adams, the hold steady, vampire weekend

shag, i saw slightly stoopid once in college... it was a fun show.

  • I love Of Montreal and Spoon. I've seen them both at Bonnaroo. I freaked when the Outback commercial came out that ripped off the Of Montreal song about Antarctica....let's pretend we don't exist....let's pretend we're in antarctica.....
  • Alanis Morissette and Dixie Chics are my favs.  I do like some of the new pop stuff as well.  H is old school rock and roll guy!
  • Coldplay, Michael Buble, Adele, Old Whitney Houston, Old Mariah Carey...I like a mix of music

  • Weird, but Hinder puts on a great show.

Journey does, too, as well as James Taylor.

    Also, JTimberlake.

I'm friends with everybody in this office. We're all best friends - I love everybody here. But sometimes your best friends start coming into work late, and start having dentist appointments that aren't dentist appointments. And that's when it is nice to let them know that you can beat them up.
  • That is so funny that I haven't heard of like 90% of these bands (obvious exceptions being Jay-Z and James Taylor).

Um, my favorite band is probably the Magnetic Fields which I realize makes me kind of a nerd.  My favorite solo artist is probably Sam Cooke.

But my interests are pretty diverse.  Angelfire, I'm with you on the hip hop but I like more underground.  LOVE Mos Def, Jurassic 5, that sort of thing.  I love old country, like Hank Williams and some Johnny Cash.  I like older folk like Bob Dylan and new ones like the Mountain Goats and rock like Led Zepplin.  And oldies, obviously, Motown is huge with me.

Lately I have not been able to stop playing She and Him.

  • i like She and Him too, but mainly because I have a teeny girl crush on zooey deschanel :)

In fact, lately i've been listening to the (500) Days of Summer soundtrack a lot - I'm loving the Feist and Regina Spektor songs.  I tend to get hooked on soundtracks, rather than artists.  Before this sdtrk, I was obsessed with the Veronica Mars soundtrack, before that, Garden State.

I guess my all time favorite band is Better than Ezra.

  • Dandy--Good!  (a bad Better than Ezra joke.  And, sadly, the only song by them I can name).

I also have a major girlcrush on Zooey Deschanel and I am not afraid to admit it.  I think that might be why I sort of like Katy Perry, too.  Not her music, per se, but I always think she looks fabulous at events.  And I've seen Emily Deschanel at the movie theatre near my house.  That was a big double take for me, and poking DH in the ribs going "Was that her?"

    ?

JEALOUS!! someday i hope to go to an awesome music festival. I saw Spoon in Cincinnatti once with the Walkmen and White Rabbits...such an amazing show!!

I was totally in shock when I first heard the Outback song... and its funny because anytime i play the real song, people go "hey, that sounds like the Outback commercial"...ugh!!?
