I feel like I killed the board...

Re: I feel like I killed the board...

  • oh you didn't!

I went to the grocery store, picked up some prescriptions and now I'm washing Elise's car seat.  It was getting pretty yuck!

No, I think that labor/delivery issues are probably a touchy subject right now on this board, because it's something that people don't really want to hear when they're expecting.  But the sad reality is that having a baby takes a MAJOR toll on the body, not just visually.  I think a lot of people don't really think about that when all they are used to is happy hunky-dory stories, but people do need to be more aware.

Probably everyone is just busy though today.  You know how Mondays are!

  • Nah, just a slow Monday.

I'm in the middle of typing up what could be a potentially controversial blog post.  It's kept me busy for at least the past hour.

The baby blog.  It's about how much babies really cost in their first year.  I don't think I was prepared for it and I am out to save bank accounts, one pg lady at a time.

it is seriously expensive.  We hadn't really planned that well, we had money in savings and all.  Our deductible was $3000 and had already paid $2500 of it when I got laid off at 8 months.  My cobra deductible would have been $5000 then.  Luckily since I wasn't working (who's gonna hire an 8 months preg person?!) we qualified for LAMoms.  I wasn't going to do WIC stuff since I wanted to breastfeed, but then when I had the heart problems I had no choice but to formula feed b/c of my medications.  So we applied for WIC and were able to get it for her.  And part of me feels embarrassed by that, but at the same time, I worked nonstop since I was 15 and so did DH, so we more than paid our share!  And it saved us.  My hospital bills would have been several hundred thousands, and LaMoms paid 100 % (of course we had already paid that $2500 deduc.).  And just formula for a baby every month is like $120 a month.  I know we COULD have managed it without the help we were able to get, but it was nice not having to!

And not to mention diapers!  Whew!  Elise goes through one package of diapers a week.  Talk about "sh*tting money away!!"  Can't wait to potty train!

That post just killed any scrap of baby fever I had. LOL! I needed that though...we aren't planning to try for a few years!

  • LOL Shoe, definitely budget for that epi!

When the contractions were coming every 45 seconds, they could have come in and said "you can have an epi but it will cost $3 million!" I would not have hesitated before saying yes!!

And thank you.  I had some help from a fellow nestie.  =)
