Maternity Wear Questions

# 1) My Baby shower is Oct. 25th I wanted to get something nice to wear and not be in so much black (like I have been recently) The ?theme? is very soft pinks & whites and my mom wants it to be a bit on the ?nicer? side?cloth napkins & tablecloths, wine glasses etc?Any tips for those who?ve had a shower? Like pants or skirt? Short sleeves?

# 2) Now the time has come for holiday parties?we?ve been told about 7 so far. The first starting on November 21st. One of them is the family reunion we always do and the first time many will see me with my Bump! and one formal company party. The others are semi-formal.

I?m ok with dressy pants (I have about 6 pairs) but not great in the tops area. Also I?ll need 1or 2 dresses?where would you recommend I shop & look?? Do you have any ideas/tips on how to look festive? I was thinking a lot of red ;-)

TIA!

Re: Maternity Wear Questions

  • IMO, stuff like skirt/pants is just a personal perference.

I personally was able to fit into alot of bottoms that weren't maternity.  So, I just looked at the mall stores.  I found some stretchier shirts at RW&Co that I was able to wear.  I never really shopped at the maternity stores, I didn't like ALOT of their stuff.

Maybe just take an afternoon to shop for yourself=)  Accessories (necklaces, headbands) etc. is great to add a little "umph" to your outfit.

  • I ended up buying a very plain dress that I could dress up or down as needed.  It saved me a lot of money and I ended up wearing it more than any of my other Mat clothes. it was this one

    Turned out to be perfect.

  • I got a simple black dress, about knee length, with 3/4 length sleeves. It could be dressed up with rhinestones etc for a fancier party, but it was simple enough that I could even wear it to work.

Red would be very festive.  Don't worry about having something for each party - people don't expect pregnant ladies to have a ton of different outfits.  Also, you probably wont' even see the same people at most of the parties.

    That's a good point!

  • I wore a dress to both of mine.

Accessories are a great way to make something look festive.

Most maternity stores will have holiday dresses in. You may just have to wait until October for them to come in.

  • I have a wedding on the weekend and just got a nice dress for it at Evymama, which is located in the west end of Toronto. They had a pretty decent selection of dresses, including a few of the "classic black" that you could accessorize different depending on the event.

If you've interested, the one I got is this one - in purple, it's super pretty in person. I hope I can find somewhere else to wear it!
