It's already been a week since the tri, but I just wanted to thank y'all for your nice thoughts and vibes! It was really hard but just so amazing! Even though it was difficult/torture at times during it, I would still classify it as "fun." Isn't it strange how the mind works? I can't wait to do the next one!
I placed 914th out of 947... it took 2 hours 22 minutes and 2 seconds! When I was biking I literally thought I was the last one left on the course, but toward the end, I came across two 12 year olds, and forced myself to beat them (i know, so sad, the little victories).
anyways, I guess internet anonymity is powerful... I don't know if I would show you these pictures if I knew you in real life and saw you in person on a regular basis!
I have weird facial expressions in most of the biking pictures, and in 2 of the "running" portion pictures, I am clearly walking.
But if you want to see some,

put in BIB # 559...
there's a hysterical one of me actually finishing too! And notice how you don't see a single other triathlete in any of the pics... that's what it's like when you are one of the last ones finishing I guess!

YAAAAAY!!! Way to go!
I had to laugh at the bit about the 12 year olds...my dad told me that when he was running his first marathon, when they reached the halfway point and he was really struggling, this old dude (like 78) pulled up alongside him and they chatted for a bit. Then the old guy goes, "Well, I'm going to go ahead - have a good race!" and just pulls away easily. That was the stage when my dad knew he was going to come in toward the end of the pack lol. But I'll tell you the same thing that I told him - it doesn't matter where you come in, just finishing is AMAZING!!!
(Oh, I also smiled at "n 2 of the "running" portion pictures, I am clearly walking" - that's the other thing my dad told me that he does: he'll walk if he needs to, but he always runs over the photo sections so he looks like he's going hard lol.)
