facebook messages from friends re: jewelyn

I have had a couple people ask me on FB if there's a way to donate other than Paypal since they charge a fee.

We should get a fund set up at a bank close to their house, so people can send money there, too.  I can look into this more tonight when I get home from work unless someone else wants to look into this.

  • Last month I got an offer in the mail from CHASE bank to deposit an extra $100 for opening an account... does anybody know of any other deals like this with local banks... I can get the certificate when I get home and see if it still good- or maybe an ING account might be good- for a better interest rate?
Don't worry about tomorrow. After all, today is the tomorrow that you worried about yesterday. Take each day as it comes...one at a time. Midnight Baking Adventures Blog
  • Totally lurking over here, but if you have people do paypal as "money owed" (I think that is the option), they don't charge the fee. I can go look up exactly what is it and let you know. Give me two minutes.

Edit: I guess it's only up to $500 a month. Sorry. I thought there was a way to do more but I can't find the link at the moment. I'll keep looking though and let you know if I find it.

I think you are right!  I think some people just generalize that Paypal charges the fee and feel more comfortable sending payment to a bank.  But for those who ask now, I will let them know about this.  Thanks!

  • Of the 40+ donations we have received on paypal, only 2 have incurred fees and that is because they treated the transaction as a purchase rather than a money transfer. If anyone incurs a fee, they should select the transfer option instead.
