  • Hi! I was very surprised when I stumbled in here and didn't "see" anyone.

We had a great weekend! Saturday, we went for Sasha's first swimming class this semester at a new place. I really enjoyed it and so did she. Then we went to my cousin's birthday party in Jersey. My dad's cousin was there too with his girlfriend and her 4-year-old daughter, she's such a cutie, we're all crossing our fingers that these two are really serious and will get married soon ;) We also met my uncle's new puppy Sophie, who is just adorable!

Sunday, we dropped Miss Sasha at my parents' house and went to Atlantic City, picking up my ILs on the way. We spent too much money, but had a great time. Watched Desperate Housewives when we got back last night, yup, we're dorks.

Hope everyone else had a good weekend!

  • Hi Ladies!

This weekend was overwhelming/emotional/exciting/inspiring and so much more. I spent Thursday-Sunday at an opening retreat for a leadership program I am?participating?in this year. ?We were in Litchfield, CT at a small retreat house. ?

The program explores issues of power,?privilege?and?leadership?in regards to policy issues within the city of new york.

It was really amazing to be in a room with 50 individuals from different ethnic,?socioeconomic and professional?backgrounds discussing these?challenging?issues. ?

I am working from home today to recover a bit and catch up. ?I hope everyone has a great week! ?

  • My weekend was good!

Ate at a cute little Thai restaurant Friday night, then came home and had some wine and watched a movie.

Saturday, just did errands, went for a short run, and cleaned the apartment.  Saturday night was mellow, as I had to get up at the crack of dawn Sunday morning!

Sunday morning I ran an 18 mile race in Central Park, then spent the rest of the day on the couch watching football.  Except for a trip over to Corner Bistro for a nice greasy burger and some beers, which I earned after my morning!!

  • Glad everyone seemed to have a nice weekend!

DH and I went for brunch at a Trinidadian restaurant in Richmond Hill on Saturday and that was the highlight of my weekend. Otherwise we just took on projects at home. I started stripping the porch for repainting but ran out of the stripper half way through...so that project is going to be  completed next weekend.

DH meantime primed the living room, dining room and kitchen.

We slept in late on Sunday (oh so nice!!). We hadnt done that in a while. Then I cooked a bit and took it easy for the rest of the day...

  • My weekend had some whirlwind moments, but some much needed R&R was also a part of it.

Friday: I was at my church in the evening, helping out with a program my youth group was putting on, which involved driving to pick up my little cousin in-law, who's 13 and has a ball with my group! These kids are such a highlight of my life, so I always have fun with them.

Saturday: Aside from laundry and housework, I went to a Birthday party with a girlfriend and had a blast. I'm talking jell-o shots, home-cooked food, and dancing--all in a house party atmosphere. It was like being back in your freshman year of college. I so needed that!

Sunday: I was so exhausted from the party (probably caused by too many jell-o shots) Embarrassed So, I opted to stay home from church and spend some time with DH. We weren't able to catch a movie like I wanted, but we were able to make a late-night grocery store run--which is seemingly so mundane, but with his second-shift work schedule, it was nice to have some help with the groceries for a change!
