Desperate Help - Plus size formal dress
I am in need of a formal long plus size dress. I have searched everywhere online and can't find anything that isn't old ladyish. Figured it wouldn't hurt to see if you lady's could name any stores I didn't think of or don't know of. My search has included the norms
Macy's, Dillards, JCP's, Torrid, Lane Bryant, Avenue, Nordstroms, David's bridal, sears, even tried just google searching.
TIA!
Re: Desperate Help - Plus size formal dress
Have you looked at the area bridal salons- I usually order something every year from Wendy's for my husbands Christmas party at work. I hate the selection in stores. If you need something quick and have something in mind post something here and on the knot. I know I have tons of dresses I would lend out to someone if they were askin!
When do you need one and what are you looking for? I am starting my search now, and would be happy to keep my eyes open!
It will take a while but here's a list of many, many plus-size sites that might have formal wear.

Although not technically formal, maybe you could find a black maxi-dress and accessorize to make it more formal.

Also, here's a blog I had in my favorites. It's a year old but maybe some of the links will still be current and provide you with some options.

The mall department stores should have some plus size homecoming dresses but 16 year old girl might not be the look you're going for
I think Dillard's has a good selection of formal wear in all sizes (I know Tri County did a few years ago). I have no luck at Torrid ever and Lane Bryant doesn't always fit me that well. I'd look online at Macy's and JCP
What about this? It's halter but you could get a convertable bra. I'm busty and halters work pretty well for me. Or this or this
I second going to David's Bridal and buying something off the rack.
Does it have to be LONG? I have a shorter black dress that has asymmetrical neckline, slight beading at the top (like black beads only, very tasty), goes about knee/mid-calf length.
Does it have to be black? I have a wine colored bm dress that was actually pretty. It's long strapless, slight beading at the top.
I would try Ebay too.
You could borrow it.
Hmmm...I think in general, also being plus sized, that I actually feel larger in long dresses than in knee length. But that could just be me.
I recently ordered a Jessica Howard dress for a wedding, and it fit me perfectly when I got it. I also bought my rehearsal dinner dress at the Dillards in Kenwood. They have a really nice selection, of all of the department stores I've been to for plus size formal.
Of the Dillards, I have had the best luck at the Crestview Hills location. I don't wear very formal dresses often but I have a few dresses that could be dressed up or down that I bought from Old Navy online. They are just a cotton so they aren't going to be FORMAL, but they could definately be dressy with the right accessories.
I was in a wedding in June and we got our dresses at Davids. It wasn't long, but it was black, I wore my regular bra with it and it was very slimming, confy and had pockets!!! I will definately wear the dress again if I have something formal to go to. It's the only BM dress I have (of my 9 that I have) where I can say I would ever wear it again. It is this one...

Thanks girls! My Mom and I are going shopping Sat so I'll see if I find anything. If not I may take the two of you up on borrowing.
I've only worn a long dress for my wedding and back in HS for prom and HC in my skinny days blah! So I'm not really sure if I totally prefer long. I feel like my calves look huge with some short dresses so we'll see this weekend once I start trying on. My Mom is going to this event with us and she's doing long so that's what makes me want to go with long.
The DB's and chadwick dresses are very cute. I've bookmarked them.
Thanks again!
