So, I finally caved and read the bad interview stories below. For Anna and I and a a few others out there job hunting I wanted to start a thread of really great interview experiences. It can happen. Right???
I will start, I see Anna and I nailing our interviews, a parade thrown in our honor and money thrown in our direction.
No really, anyone have some great, man I nailed that experiences?
BTW: below is a link to the suit I purchased. But the pants I got were not nearly as flared as this. And I got a red knit top for underneath. A bit bright for an interview but it is my, i feel great in this color. My interview has been pushed back a couple of days and is now a dinner interview. Heres to hoping I can be bright, articulate and not spill on myself at the same time.
Re: s/o - really great interviews
I think the suit is great. I hate it when they show pictures like that online - the pants are clearly too short on her, why do they think that looks good?
well, every other part of the "bad interview" story I posted was great. I wouldn't have wasted everyone's time and flown up to a job interview if I had not hit it off with the interviewer that came down to AZ at the time.
The job that I currently have was a great interview and a little unique. They have interview panels that include a current employee, the would be supervisor, one person from the government and then people from the community. They can ask you anything. My interview got off on a tangent when one elderly community member started talking to me about my grandpa and great grandma then launched into a long discussion about my family's seafood business and I kept thinking, ummmm when are the job questions coming, but went with it and I guess everyone really respected my openness and willingness to talk (funny since I'm kind of quiet/shy) and how respectful I was of the elder - all good traits to have since my first job here was to meet with community members and draft new laws from scratch.
All of the teaching jobs I've interviewed for, I've been offered a position in the end... so... I guess they've all been good. I just try to remember all my drama training and talk like I know what I'm doing even if I don't actually know what I'm doing.
Which... let's face it, is pretty much a teacher's existence so works perfectly.
For me, it's best when I'm authentic and open, and manage to build connections with the interviewers. I'm lucky to have been in some pretty stressful situations that WAY outweigh interviews, so they don't stress me out too much.

love the suit beachbabebride and thanks for the positive shout out! i hope it comes true!
I usually get really nervous with job interviews. The one for the last job I had was pretty good though. I had an instant, great repoire with the woman who interviewed me who now 3 1/2 years later I consider a great friend, and someone I will stay in touch with for the rest of my life. We had like an instant personality connection though in the interview.
I also had an interview once where one of my interviewers told me my cover letter was one of the best he'd ever read. I didn't end up getting the job--go figure.
I can't think of a specific "wow, that was awesome" example, but I'd say that the majority of the interviews I've attended have been good ones. My resume might not be the best, but I interview quite well (if I do say so myself lol) - I don't tend to get overly nervous or stressed (I just tell myself that "it's just chatting with someone - take it as it comes" and then I feel fine) and I always prepare questions in advance, which helps a lot so I don't feel so put on the spot.
