A friend from work brought in the cutest cupcakes today. Turns out her friend is the owner of this business, that basically makes decorative, edible toppers for your homemade cupcakes:

Cool idea, huh?
Re: Cute Cupcake Caps!
what a unique idea - those look really great.
I didn't eat one...I wasn't feeling like a sugary snack this morning and now, they're all gone! Anyway, I asked my friend and she said they are sweet, but have no real flavor and the texture is soft once they've sat out on the frosted cupcakes (otherwise the texture it more crunchy).
According to the website they are not fondant and are made from Cane sugar, Corn syrup, Dextrose, Cornstarch, Water, Gelatin, Natural and artificial flavors, Artificial colors, Tetrasodium.
I like that you can get a high-end look with little effort. NICE!

Lisa! There's a pirate one! It's tiny and not a very good photo, but I kinda see a pirate hat!
