Great Neighborhood Parks?

Hello :)

Do you have a great neighborhood park or know of one? I've been assigned to plan a BBQ for a group of people from all over Tucson and am not sure where to hold it. I'd like some shade or a ramada/covered area, BBQ pits, and hopefully some grass or play equipment for the kids.

Any suggestions? The only park I've been to is Udall , and while that would work it's huge and always so busy.

Thanks!

Re: Great Neighborhood Parks?

  • Himmel park is nice--Tucson Blvd and 1st St
  • Purple Heart Park at Rita Ranch is really nice, but it's pretty far out there for people that don't live on the SE side.

The city of Tucson Parks & Rec department has a website where you can search parks by amenity. Here's the link:

  • Himmel is nice - I was just there this weekend. And it wasn't too busy.

Reid Park is huge and has lots of ramadas - but is also very popular.

Lakeside park also has a ton of ramadas and is usually not too crowded.  Also not as huge as Reid Park.

    Good luck!
  • I don't what the name is, but there is a park near me on Tucson Blvd, South of Speedway, just before the light at 3rd. It has a big tennis facility, lights, fun play stuff for kids, and I see people there, but it's never crowded. It just seems like the perfect park. :)
    HTH! :)
