The reason I ask is that my good friend's son is having a Bar Mitzvah and I need to know what an appropriate amount of money would be to give as a gift. I would ask my friend, but she would tell me that whatever amount I suggested short of $10 would be too much. I realize that he is only 13 years old and that I didn't get large amounts of money at that age, but a Bar Mitzvah is a pretty big deal.
TIA!
Re: Any Jewish nesties?
Donations in honor of are also a big thing (again in chai)
Most bar/bat mitzvah presents are put into savings accounts so savings bonds and things like that are also a good present.
If you have any other questions let me know! I am active in the Jewish Community and know most of the recent and upcoming Bar-Mitzvahs kids. I actually have one on April 5.
Thanks Aliza! My friends are the Sands and they did live here, but are currently in Houston after losing their home during Katrina. DH and I are not able to go to Houston so I wanted to give him a good gift.
Thanks again for the help.
