Ochsner vs. Touro...your opinion

I'm trying to decide between giving birth at Ochsner or Touro. I will be visiting Touro soon, and I've had several friends give birth at Ochsner. I just don't know anyone who's had experience with both hospitals.
So, if you have an opinion on either hospital, whether it be personal or through another persons experience,  please let me know. Thanks so much!! Have a nice day!

Re: Ochsner vs. Touro...your opinion

  • i had the boys at ochsner, and i would HIGHLY recommend it. i spent a lot of time there (before they were born, after, and when they were in the NICU) and everyone there is so nice, so good, just wonderful. i had a friend who had her baby at touro, and she liked it too, though. oschner seems a bit nicer, more modern. if that even matters....

  • My OBGYN was orginially at Baptist and moved to Ochsner following the storm. I had my son at Ochsner and I had very few complaints. My pre-delivery experience was good. I saw a high risk perinatolist several times and she was great. The u/s techs were great. Even billing was pretty much fine. My delivery nurses and my pp nurses were great (I had a minor issue with one of the nursery nurses). Both the delivery and recovery rooms were more than adequate. Everything was bright and clean and pretty well run.

After my DS' birth my dr. moved to Touro and so far I'm SO not impressed (I'm expecting #2 at the end of May). The hospital is dingy and old. The ultrasound dept is extremely poorly run - I wait at least an hour past my appt time every single time I go there - and the u/s tech (yup, there's only one) sucks, although I like the perinatoligist that I've seen there. Billing is a pain and makes no sense. I could go on and on. If I didn't like my OB so much, I'd ditch him and find someone else at Ochsner in a heartbeat. Hopefully my delivery experience there will be better than my pre-delivery experiences so far.
  • I swear I can spell.... perinatologist :)
