Summer Camps

I am starting to think about summer camp for my 3 year old (soon to be 4) daughter. Last summer was chaos because she has to be busy all of the time. I figure summer camp would be a good outlet for her.

I am trying to find a good match for her. She goes to St. Philip Neri so I thought to send her to the Kidcam Camp there, but didn't hear too many good things about it. Since this camp thing is new to me, I am not too familiar with the camps out there. I heard good things about St. Christopher's camp, but I don't want to drive that far each day (I will have a newborn and a 2 year old to tote around, too).

Do you have any recommendations? Where have you sent your children? Where have your friends and family sent there kids? I would like to find something in Metairie. Thanks!

Re: Summer Camps

  • I'm not familiar with anything in Metairie (sorry), but St. George's Episcopal has a great camp!
  • Country Day and St Martin's both have camps as well. Maybe ask some of her classmates' parents where they will be sending their children so she will have a familiar face? I too have heard rave reviews about St Christopher's camp. Would it be possible to find someone to carpool with?

  • Lakeside Mall is hosting a summer camp expo on March 29th from 10am - 4pm. It might be a good place to go and get information and you can also ask other parents their experiences. I'm looking for a camp for my  4 year old as well.
  • Kehoe-France has a great camp.
  • I am actually an Assistant Camp Director (My camp is actually Uptown) and know a lot about local camps. If you want you can email me at KnottieAliza@yahoo.com

If you want to stay in Metairie I know about 5 places that all have wonderful reputations.
