Changing name on house deed?
DH and I purchased our home before getting married. We recently received one of our tax bills with my maiden name, and I contacted our local tax collector about updating their records to my married name. She said they could not make the change, that it had to be listed as it's listed on our deed. She said it's expensive to make an official change to the deer and it would have to involve a lawyer but they will put a note on it specifying that I'm also known as [married name]. Any idea who I would contact about adding this? Our settlement company?
