Re: Mamas & Mamas to Be: Weekly Check-in
I cannot remember if I am still doing this or not, so if it's not me, sorry to be stepping on toes! Chalk it up to pregnancy brain!
1) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?
I feel pretty good. I got my convention assignment for Nashville next month (in two weeks, really) and it's even more scaled back than I had anticipated. WOOT! For not having to work 16 hour days!
Baby is kicking regularly now, which can be a distraction during meetings at work, LOL! My belly has expanded too...it's a lot rounder and firmer! Oh and baby is kicking up a storm. Felt it for the first time last weekend.
(2) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?
Next appt. is October 28...I will be headed into the third tri then!
(3) What's the biggest change in your body since getting pregnant or having the baby? How do you feel about it?
Big belly. Which for a plus sized gal you might think wouldn't be a big deal, but for as big as I am I have always had a waist smaller than my boobs and hips, so it's been an adjustment. I am embracing the bump and praying that after the baby comes I'll get my waistline back. Also, my boobs have never hurt so much in my life and I have been a DD+ since I was 19 years old. YIKES!
(4) Are any of you exercising regularly? If so, what's your routine?
Before I was pg I had planned on continuing with my daily 2-3 mile walks. But the nausea and fatigue were so bad in the first tri I didn't keep up with it. Now, in the second tri, I have been trying to walk at least every other day for at least 20-30 minutes. So far, so good.
(5) Since it's been a hot topic here lately...what sort of diapering system will/are you use/ing? Cloth diapers? Hybrids? Sposies? How about wipes? Diaper balms, lotions or powders?

We're going with CDs and will have to use disposables for daycare when the time comes, unless I can talk them into trying All-in-ones and a wet bag for those days. We shall see about that. For now, we're starting with unbleached indian cotton prefolds, snappis and thirsties wraps/covers. I may eventually look into some AIOs or pockets, especially for when we're out and about, but I am so cheap, I wanted to not even go there since I've read that once you use them you won't want to use PFs and covers any more.
We will also do cloth wipes and my own DIY solution or the Kissaluv Concentrate if good ol' warm water doesn't seem to be cutting it. For now, we plan to wash our CDs with Ecos Free and Clear Liquid laundry detergent. And I don't plan to use bottom balms, etc. unless it's necessary and if so, then an organic one like Weleda or California Baby. Of course that will mean using liners on the CDs since the balms can definitely cause wicking problems.
Here we are prepping the PFs last Friday...we boiled them in batches of 4 for 10 minutes each. Took us 2 hours to do all 3 dozen.

**Lori - it must be you. I filled in once and then I don't think anyone posted last week....
1) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? feeling a-ok. I'm a little more tired lately. I never got the first tri fatigue, so it's hitting me now?
(2) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? ultrasound today (hopefully my one and only) - not finding out gender.
(3) What's the biggest change in your body since getting pregnant or having the baby? How do you feel about it? I guess just my weight? I don't mind it but the midwife last week was kind of concerned - she was mostly focused on my pre-pg weight, which IMO wasn't bad. She seems to rely heavily on the BMI which bugs me so I'm not concerned. I eat healthy and exercise, I'm sure the baby is getting what it needs - I will re-evaluate if my weight really jumps.
(4) Are any of you exercising regularly? If so, what's your routine? yes. I keep saying I will check out prenatal yoga, but I don't want to pay for it since we are members at a great gym that includes complimentary classes. I go to a hybrid yoga/mat pilates class 2-3 times a week and do some pg modifications. I still ride my bike to the grocery and starbucks and for fun and I walk on the treadmill 2ish times a week.
**Edit to add - this didn't happen regularly during first tri. I was really scared I would need to throw up while at the gym so I only rode my bike around the neighborhood occasionally (fresh air felt great).
(5) Since it's been a hot topic here lately...what sort of diapering system will/are you use/ing? Cloth diapers? Hybrids? Sposies? How about wipes? Diaper balms, lotions or powders? cloth, cloth wipes (making my own), will buy some CA baby diaper rash cream in case we ever need it and maybe order some nature's essense cream or whatever that stuff is called.
List your favorite brands/types and why you like them best. For CDers also list the detergent you use and your wash routine. will probably be easier to answer post-baby but I must say the bububebe fitteds and blueberry minky - both are so soft! I also love the olive jane cover I bought. I bought some Country Save Detergent to prep the prefolds in - it is sold in bulk bins at the local co-op, hopefully it works out for us.

1) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? Feeling good. Brooke has been off and on about sleeping through the night recently. (Since two months she was sleeping through the night, but for the past week or so she has been getting up).. . I am still trying to adjust
(2) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? I think I have an appt. with my OB sometime in October. Brooke just had her 4 month appt. on the 18th-- she was 25 inches and 17.10 pounds (90th percentile for height, off the charts for weight!!!) She has another appointment in two months-- MORE shots, no fun.
(3) What's the biggest change in your body since getting pregnant or having the baby? How do you feel about it? I have stretch marks around my belly button and I HATE feeling like my boobs are going to explode. Seriously, hate it.
(4) Are any of you exercising regularly? If so, what's your routine? Definitely NOT exercising. I think BF helped a lot to lose the weight... I think I weigh less than when I found out I was PG, but I'm "fatter" in the sense that I'm more flabby all around.
(5) Since it's been a hot topic here lately...what sort of diapering system will/are you use/ing? Cloth diapers? Hybrids? Sposies? How about wipes? Diaper balms, lotions or powders?

We were using Pampers Swaddlers at first, which i loved because they were so soft. I didn't even realize the line turned colors when your LO pees! Anyway, we are using Huggies now. People bought us so much diapers at baby showers and whatnot, we haven't needed to buy diapers yet! (Well, one pack of newborns b/c everyone we knew bought us bigger diapers)
As far as wipes go, we use Huggies and Pampers. I like the Pampers sensitive skin, but am thinking of switching to Seventh Generation wipes. Anyone use them or have insight if they are worth it?

Hi girls, forgive me for not filling out the questions properly. I just wanted to stop and say hi and let you know that we found out on Monday that we are going to have a little boy! The pic of the bottom my siggy is of him waving hello :-)
We had a HUGE scare from the NT scan. It came back that our LO had a 1/30 chance of having ds. I was a complete mess for over three weeks. Had an amnio and got a call on Mondaywith the results that a baby has the perfect amount of chromosomes and that he was a he! Thank you GOD!
Julie - Yay for a boy! And a big WHEW for your NT scare... Sooooo glad to hear that everything is looking good!
Lori - Brook is soooo cute! I have used Seventh Gen wipes and I liked them. But then I can't really tell the difference between all the wipes... They wipe stuff. Haha.

1) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?
I'm doing pretty good. I'm 30 weeks today, so in about 10 weeks we'll meet our little one. He or she is kicking up a storm. My coworkers can see my stomach moving during meetings
I met with my OB last week and he assured me that there are pain meds I can take post delivery for my arthritus that will allow me to breast feed still so that makes me feel alot better (both that I won't be in pain and I can bf).
(2) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?
We have an ultrasound next week to see if my placenta has moved up or not. We're going to get some 3D pics done so I'm SOOOOOOOOOO excited to see our little ones face!
(3) What's the biggest change in your body since getting pregnant or having the baby? How do you feel about it?
Right now the biggest change in my body is my digestion. Air gives me heart burn now, which I'd only experienced once prior to pregnancy.
(4) Are any of you exercising regularly? If so, what's your routine?
I'm trying to keep exercising. I walk my pup regularily and go to aquasize a couple days a week.
(5) Since it's been a hot topic here lately...what sort of diapering system will/are you use/ing? Cloth diapers? Hybrids? Sposies? How about wipes? Diaper balms, lotions or powders?
I plan to use swaddlers for the first little while until we get confortable, but the we plan to switch to cloth diapers.
For baby products I'm going to start with Baby Aveeno products.
List your favorite brands/types and why you like them best. For CDers also list the detergent you use and your wash routine.

1) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? Feeling pretty good, just super tired. Jaylee has been super stuffed up lately so she hasn't been sleeping we. She has started rolling over from back to tummy and tummy to back.. Started to kinda crawl.
(2) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? Jaylee has an appointment on Oct. 15th. It's her 4 month check up which means MORE shots. That is the hardest part, Oh and I have an OB appt.the day afer
(3) What's the biggest change in your body since getting pregnant or having the baby? How do you feel about it? Stretch marks are still pretty dark. My bum and hips are WIDER... I am justing going to live with out being able to wear those super low rider jeans, well that and no more bikini for me.
(4) Are any of you exercising regularly? If so, what's your routine? THe hubby and I try to go for a walk everyday. We just strap Jaylee into the ERGO baby and off we go..
(5) Since it's been a hot topic here lately...what sort of diapering system will/are you use/ing? Cloth diapers? Hybrids? Sposies? How about wipes? Diaper balms, lotions or powders?

We got every different type of diapers possible from my showers. Used Pamper swaddlers and huggies little snugglers when she was new born size. She didn't like the seventh generation diapers, it gave her a rash. Now we're into huggies pure and natural and we LOVE those. Worth the extra money you pay..
As far as wipes go, we use Huggies and Pampers. I like the Pampers sensitive skin, and the huggies sensitive gental care... Oh yeah we we use butt cream and so far so good

www.lillanvernon.com just super cute kids/baby stuff
1) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? Well...I do have one thing, but it's super TMI. So I might skip it. I'm debating a Pregosaur post though.
(2) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? Oct 6 - just a regular checkup
(3) What's the biggest change in your body since getting pregnant or having the baby? How do you feel about it? My hooters are huuuuuuge. Seriously. I had no idea they'd grow this fast. I'm actually kind of freaked out. I look down and all I see is a wall-o-boob.
(4) Are any of you exercising regularly? If so, what's your routine? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA*gasp*HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Ahem. Sorry, that would be a "no." Although a coworker and I usually go on a walk for about 30 min during our lunchbreak every day...but truthfully, it's not that fast so I'm not sure it counts.
(5) Since it's been a hot topic here lately...what sort of diapering system will/are you use/ing? Cloth diapers? Hybrids? Sposies? How about wipes? Diaper balms, lotions or powders? List your favorite brands/types and why you like them best. For CDers also list the detergent you use and your wash routine. Honestly, still no idea. I'd love to CD, but if the daycares won't accept them, there may not be any point (since they'd be in care 8 hours a day, 5 days a week - I know we could still CD in our own time, but I'm not sure it would be worth the amount we'd have to shell out on CDs to get set up). No favorite brands - and apart from Huggies and Johnson & Johnson, most brands here are different anyway.

1) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?
pretty uncomfortable. not a lot of swelling but my belly is getting so big it feels a bit tight. i am bulging from the edges of my rib cage and her movements are becoming much stronger. i still love feeling her move around, but when she kicks me in the ribs or punches my cervix, i don't really appreciate it
she keeps me up often at night w/all her movement too. I am now averaging two potty breaks in the middle of the night instead of one.
(2) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?
have been going to the dr every 2 wks since 28 wks. next appointment is in 2 wks - it will be my first internal exam! no more u/s for us before baby is born (we don't be getting a 3d one)
(3) What's the biggest change in your body since getting pregnant or having the baby? How do you feel about it?
right now I feel like I am all belly. I am ok w/it except I wish the extra weight wasn't so hard to carry
(4) Are any of you exercising regularly? If so, what's your routine?
I've always had good intentions but no, I am not exercising

we are going to be using GMD prefolds with thirsties duo covers... we have some AIOs as well to try out and and see what we like. I also have some GMD wipes that I plan to use with warm water. there was a great deal on dermstore recently and I got some California baby diaper rash products that are CD safe for about 50% off so we'll use that if we need it.
we plan to just wash our CDs in Tide

1) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?
m/s all the time! And I started throwing up more often too =( But we had our first appt today so I was really happy about that!
(2) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?
Next one's in 4 weeks. The big u/s doesn't come until Dec tho...
(3) What's the biggest change in your body since getting pregnant or having the baby? How do you feel about it?
Feeling like I need to throw up or poop 24/7 =P It feels really miserable--I can't wait until it's over...I hope it's over soon...physically, I've gained about 5lbs and I'm a bit bloated around the tummy--my pants feel tighter around the waist.
(4) Are any of you exercising regularly? If so, what's your routine?
No. Unfortunately, I have become really sedentary since our honeymoon and m/s doesn't encourage me to start exercising either =P
(5) Since it's been a hot topic here lately...what sort of diapering system will/are you use/ing? Cloth diapers? Hybrids? Sposies? How about wipes? Diaper balms, lotions or powders?
I think the Pampers with the color-changing strips sound cool. But I really like cotton, so I think I'll research a bit more about cloth diapers later on. It's a bit too early for me right now to be thinking about diapers at all...

Um, so far I've been using babycenter.com and thebump.com the most. I also like the pregosaur blog
(7) **Bonus** PIP a recent pic of your bump or bebe.
Just got one today! (even though I already posted it in another post)...
1) We recently started giving Waianuhea solids. I am making baby food instead of buying jarred. It's super easy and fun to do!
(2) Wai has a 6 month check up on Oct 7th. Looking forward to finding out how much she has grown since the last appointment.
(3) I guess the weight gain, but I am losing it slowly probably because of breastfeeding. If I was working out I'm sure I'd shed it faster, but it's just a matter of getting motivated and making time to do it.
(4) Unfortunately I'm not exercising much these days, however, I do regularly work up a sweat cleaning my messy house!
(5) Wish I could say I was doing the cloth diaper thing or something eco friendly, but I'm just using disposables. I like Pampers Swaddlers best because they are soft, but they only sell them in NB size here on Kauai, so right now we're using Huggies Snug & Dry. They do the job. When DD was a newborn she got a little rashy and we tried both Natures Gate and Burt's Bees diaper rash creams, but found that Boudreaux's Butt Paste worked the best. It was recommended by our Pedi. For powder I use Johnson's Pure Cornstarch. Haven't used lotion on baby yet, except Mustela sunscreen which our Pedi also recommended.
(6) I love the cute baby clothes sold by Etsy seller babybeenos.
(7) Here's the little munckin and I at the beach yesterday...
Thank God everything is okay
And congrats on a boy!!
checking back in (after being out of town all week) to post some PIPs for the bonus question.
