Gettysburg Ghost Tour

My family wants to go on a ghost tour of Gettysburg this Friday night.  Does anyone have any recommendations?  I've heard the Ghosts of Gettysburg tour is highly rated.  I watch ghost hunting shows all the time, but I'm still scared of the unknown and unseen.

Re: Gettysburg Ghost Tour

  • Honestly, I live ON one of the tours... I've never seen a thing.  My DH grew up on the same property and never saw/heard/experienced anything, either (even being out on the battlefields in the middle of the night, etc).

There really is nothing to be afraid of - it's all totally mental.  I personally know nothing of the companies, but they all run similar tours.  I wouldn't worry too much about which one you end up going with... I would just go with whichever has the shortest wait/fits in best with your schedule.

  • I did one years back with my brother and sister and it was kinda dumb.   I personally wouldn't waste the money.
  • I haven't been on one personally, but my coworker just toured the Jennie Wade House and it costs $9.25/person and lasts 90 minutes.  She and her husband really liked it.  There's a website too I believe (just google Jennie Wade house).  I think we're going to try it sometime this month.

    Married 6/10/09 in Bermuda.
  • we have done the ghosts of gettysburg tour twice.  each time we went on a tour it was a different route.  it's not just all about ghosts, it's history. i loved to hear the stories behind each home and each person that once occupied the house.  i think you would enjoy it.  not scary at all!  it's good fun. Big Smile
  • We go to Gettysburg all the time.  My advice, don't waste your money on a "ghost tour".  They're stupid.  Like someone said, tour the Jennie Wade House.  There are some pretty creepy pictures in the basement of the house.  Or....try and get your own ghostly experience.  We've done this too.  There are several places in G-burg that people have said things have happened to them.  Walk out on to the Wheatfield with your camera and try to take some pictures.  See if 1) the camera works and 2) if there is anything else that appears in the pictures.  Stuff like that:)
  • I don't usually post...but I actually work for the Ghosts of Gettysburg and have for years. If you are looking for an entertaining and informative tour where you hear a mix of history and documented ghost stories then you will really like it! Just be warned that it won't be like a ghost hunting show...it's just a storytelling tour...and I would recommend making reservations because sometimes the tours can sell out. Let me know if you have any other questions and have fun if you decide to go!
