Visiting New Orleans

Hi ladies! My family and I ae going to New Orleans for the BCS National Championship. We were there in 1994 and had a great time. I was wondering if you could give me suggestions for reataurants. Last time we went to Nola and Brennans and some others i do not remember. We are foodies and want top try some new places. Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you Shannon

Re: Visiting New Orleans

  • Drago's in the Hilton Hotel Riverside.  They have the best seafood (especially oysters and lobster) in town, IMO.  I also suggest brunch Sunday morning at Commander's Palace.  It is very pricey, but worth it for the experience.  If you are looking for something less pricey and more relaxed, try Zea's on St. Charles Avenue.  I know some girls on here will agree that their corn grits and thai ribs are heavenly.

Have a great time and I hope your favorite team wins.  My hubby was depressed that LSU lost and now has a snowballs chance of making it to the BCS Championship, but hey there's always the Sugar Bowl, right?!?

  • Rio Mars is great for killer paella, Lilette's on Magazine is yummy as well as Jacques Imos and Restaurant August for a nice dinner. . Cafe Maspera's and Mona Lisa's and Coop's are good for a cheaper more casual lunch. Check out the convention and visitor's website to see which restaurants are having special events or deals. I second the suggestion of Drago's.......the chargrilled oysters are out of this world!!

  • Mmmmmm.....corn grits.....

*wiping up drool*  Where was I?  Oh yeah--restaurants.  My DH is a big fan of Gordon Biersch (near the river by Harrah's Casino), and I've heard good things about Restaurant August (John Besh, who should've been the next Iron Chef), though I don't know much about it pricewise.

  • mmmm... corn grits. we like Zea's as well. I'd also recommed Cannon's on St. Charles.  Here is a link to some New Orleans restaurants you may find helpful. Enjoy your visit!!
