Bummed out

I had a spot of skin cancer removed from my back/shoulder about a year and a half ago. When I went back for my annual visit, he took another biopsy b/c there was another spot growing right below where I had the previous spot removed. They just called to tell me that I have more basal cells, so I have to have them removed as well. I know its not a huge deal, but this just means that the scar on my back will be even bigger, AND I have to have it done right before Christmas. :-(

  • Awww, I'm sorry!!! I know it stinks to have another operation, but its so much better that they get it now, then have it turn into something much worse.

  • :( A scar sucks, but at least they caught something before it turned serious. A lot of people don't take skin cancer seriously. My mom had it and it was pretty bad. She is of Irish heritage and is pale, pale with freckles all over. She ended up having plastic surgery to clean up her scars. I'm glad they found your spot!!!
  • Sorry you have to deal with that.  When I had fibroid surgery I used those Curad scar pads and thought it's still visible ('cause of the nature of the cut), it's really flat and smooth.  Might help....
  • Good luck! I hope everything goes well. I am having an avm removed on December 6th, right on the bridge of my nose. I will have a scar too! I hope this will make you feel better- the material the docs are using to embolize the area is black, so I will have black skin along with scars just for Christmas......
