Fireproof

Have y'all seen this movie?  I watched it last night and it was really good.  I found the love dare book and think I'm going to get.

Re: Fireproof

  • We watched the movie when we were in our pre-marital class.  The acting is aaaawwwfuuullll..... but the story is great!  We talked about getting the book - but we are going to wait a few more years.  We both think that it will have much more of an impact after we have been married more than two weeks!  Smile
  • I ordered it on my netflix list, (having never read anything about it- just the cover) becuase I was hoping for a sexy fireman movie (like backdraft, or Ladder 13) but boy was I surprised and Nauseous.  I almost vomited at how unbelieveably cheesy it was. I'm sure if i knew what to expect, that I would be going to church by literally watching the movie, I wouldn't have felt this way. I just had no idea what the movie was about and it caught me off guard.
  • I have no idea what it is about, but I just got it in from my netflix que, I heard it was good so I added it.  I'll let you know what I think tomorrow!

OMG yes if I thought it was like ladder 13, I probably would have turned it off!!  It was suggested to us by our church, so we knew what we were getting into when we watched it...

  • I saw this DVD earlier this summer!  I loved it.  I planned on getting the book and just have not gotten around to it yet.  I told all my coupled friends about it also and they enjoyed it.  I think there is a lot to learn from the movie.  The acting does not matter they are not professional actors just volunteers from the local church.

  • Well I know that Kirk Cameron and Erin Bethea are professional actors... but did not know that the others were volunteers from a local church - thats pretty cool!
  • Yea, the acting is pretty bad, but the plot is excellent.  I am married to  firefighter, we've had some of those same arguments, about him being home for 2 days and not helping with anything around the house and asking me to do stuff when he's been home all day.  I talked to DH about getting the Love Dare book. It sounded like he thought it was a good idea too. I think not only would it improve any marriage, but also, I think it would improve everyone as people.
  • I saw that movie a few months ago. Very cheesy acting, but a great plot line in general. I have the book on hold in my amazon cart, and I'm sure I'll get it eventually. I'm currently in a Bible study on "The 5 Love Languages" which is another great, marriage building book!
  • I was pleasantly surprised by the movie, I typically hate anything with Kirk Cameron in it. DH thought it was horrid and finally left the room. The acting really was terrible, but the message was decent.

I won't be buying the book... I'm not real supportive of spin off merchandise, and most of the content is too cheesy for either of us to even attempt to do, or receive.

  • I think that movie is a must for for anyone that is a Christian and is Married.   We are actually going to buy the movie and whenever we feel like we need it we will watch it.
  • Actually I belive the book was out before the movie...not visa versa.  This is actually the churches 2nd or 3rd film... I think its 3rd.
