Any accountants?

So since you ladies were extremely helpful with the house-hunting situation, I figured that I'd give this a shot, too.  Are any of you accountants (or know someone who is)?  I'll be looking for a new job in the next few months and I'd love to know which firms to avoid and which to apply to (I should note that I'm not a tax girl...I do audits)!!

Thanks, again!

Re: Any accountants?

  • I'm no longer a financial analyst, but when I was I worked for 3 major hospitals in New Orleans over the course of 9 years. When I was at Touro, a friend of mine was a CPA who just left E+Y and she was the internal auditor. I know she made fairly good money working for the hospital and she rarely had to put in long hours. If things don't pan out with a firm, try looking at: HCA/Tulane Hospital Touro Infirmary Ochsner Hospital Foundation Good Luck!
  • Chrip Kerth at The Personnel Conulting Group places LOTS of good accounting jobs - http://www.personnel-group.com/

I've had a few friends work for Entergy in accounting and they worked them to death, I'm not even sure how many of the accouting jobs came back from HOU after the hurricane.  I had a few friends work in accouting for Shell and they liked it.  Capital One is always looking to fill accounting type positions.  I know a lot of people that worked for E&Y and liked it if you want to do big 4.
