we haven't had one of these in a while.  I haven't been able to think of a question.

Where do you grocery shop and why?

We go to WalMart because it's cheaper.  I hate their meat, but we always forget to go to winn dixie or sams after we go to Wal Mart.

  • walmart, because it's cheap. i hate that we have to shop there, but what can we do? i need to eat a LOT. heh.

  • wal -mart for non food related items and whole foods for the food stuff. i know whole foods is expensive but since we've had a baby, we want him to eat organic everything until he gets a bit older. i keep reading more and more books about autism and it scares the crap out of me.
  • I'm a Wal-Mart Shopper. Pre Katrina, I was all about the Winn Dixie, but I can't find a clean, organized Winn Dixie to save my life post-K. Nothing I hate more than trying to make groceries in a dirty store with  no cashiers. :-(
  • I'm currently on a Wal-Mart strike, simply b/c working in employment law you hear about the terrible work environment Wal-Mart creates for its employees.  So I usually go to Winn Dixie.  Scooter, the one in Marrero by West Jefferson Hospital is not so bad, that's the one I go to.  I also make a Sam's run every week, and I know that the same guy who owns Wal-Mart owns Sams but there are no other places like Sams around here to shop at, so I feel stuck.  For non food items, Target!!!

I am so excited that when the Sav-a-Center's close down they are being replaced by Rouses!  We need a few more grocery options on the Westbank and I love Rouses, so I can't wait for the switch.  I too, like Whole Foods, but once I bought a bunch grapes for $7 and almost died!  I do like that Winn Dixie seems to have more Organic foods too.

  • Oh, and if we had a SuperTarget nearby like in Baton Rouge, I would be in my glory!

  • I hate wal-mart, and here lately I'm finding it's really beginning to be not that much cheaper than anywhere else. Milk here on the northshore at wal-mart (covington) as of yesterday for the GreatValue brand is $4.27 a gallon. It's actually cheaper...yes I said cheaper to buy the 365 brand at Whole Foods.  So I'm much rather buy my milk *if I'm paying that much anyway* with no hormones or antibiotics in it.  Fruit and veggies at wholefoods are insane, but I'm with Mary...in the long run it's worth it.  So not to sound all hippie self righteous, I've been trying to go to the farmers market and load up on veggies. They are actually WAY cheaper than Wal-Mart and it's helping the local peeps!

Food prices are just getting insane it seems.
