Say Anything...

I cannot stand ALL bridal shops in the New Orleans area.  I used Linda Lee in 2006 when I was married...let's leave that one alone, I've beat that horse to death.  So I'm MOH in my best friend's wedding on Nov. 24th, and she went to David's.  I ordered and paid for my dress, shawl, shoes and sash in JULY, and finally yesterday someone told me that my dress had been lost by UPS and that they were going to order me a new one and hope that it'll be in by Oct. 31st.  My shoes, the shawl and sash are all in and at my house, but now I have no dress.  They also mentioned that this style number has also been discontinued so we may not get it.

After my experience and my friend's experience now more than ever I believe that Vegas is the way to go!!!!

Re: Say Anything...

  • It's only October but I'm getting a little stressed about Christmas.  It is our first married Christmas and I want to make it good.  I want to get everyone some decent gifts but I'm not used to spending so much money.  We also need Christmas decorations.  I don't think I'm going to do much but I at least need ornaments for our tree.  I'm trying to start early so I can buy things a little at a time so it won't be such a big hit all in one month.

  • iheartryan, may I suggest Target and World Market for ornaments.  I got sooo many cute ornaments from those two places that DH also had to send me to ornament-shoppers anonymous.  I went in World Market this weekend and they already have Christmas ornaments EVERYWHERE!  Target is still focused on Halloween, so they may not have ornaments out just yet.  Oh and also go to Pier One.  My favorite ornament ever comes from Pier One.  That first Christmas is tough getting something for everyone, but remember its the thought that counts and cookies go a looong way!!!

  • Thanks!!  I think I'll look at World Market.  I usually like EVERYTHING they have in there, but I've never actually looked there for Christmas items.  Dh was cute the other day because I mentioned buying some decorations while I was at the mall and he said I had to wait because it was something he thought we would do together.  So, I think I'll drag him there tonight.
  • Also, last year for Eddieboo's cousins (there are so many, I swear they are like the Gremlins multiplying in water and stuff) I bought each a bottle of that Electric Reindeer wine from World Market and tied an ornament around the bottle neck.  The most I spent on each couple was $8, so it was a cheapo gift and everyone loved it.  I'm not sure if the wine is any good since it's kinda cheap, but hey after you've been drinking around the holidays wine is wine, right?  Can you tell I heart World Market?!?!

  • GO VEGAS!!!  I really hope my kids take this route.

I don't know why bridal shops make it seem like it's our fault their shipments aren't on time.  They stress us out.  What's the deal with that?

  • I had a great experience with my bridal shop, but I bought my dress after Katrina in Tyler Texas...great shop, good times... however, before that I went to David's Bridal and tried stuff on and left in tears, I was contiunally badgered and constantly pressured to buy a dress, and I hated all of them that they brought me. They give you those three at first...she got irritated that I didn't fall madly in love with any of them...I dunno long story so I'll stop, but I hate David's Bridal and Afterhours!

  • Oooh I big fluffy heart World Market also, especially for the Christmas ornaments.  Get the minimum you need now, and hit their after Christmas sale and rack up!  Their stuff is so unique, I love it!
  • I was married back in 2004, but I had a wonderful experience with Town & Country. I bought my dress, shoes + jewelry from them. From start to finish, they always made me feel like I was their only customer. Maybe things have changed since Katrina. It sucks that you guys received such terrible service from your shops. I'm sorry. :(
