Madisonville? Mandeville?

Hi ladies-

Sorry to bother you again but what are the towns of Madisonville and Mandeville like?

TIA!

Re: Madisonville? Mandeville?

  • They are both pretty suburban areas. They both are also in a great school district. Madisonville is a little more rural and undeveloped. For commuting purposes, Mandeville is closer to the Causeway bridge. My aunt is a real estate agent in St Tammany. If you want to send me your e-mail, I can get her to put you on the house listings.

  • LSU-  thank you so much for the information!  My DH and I probably won't be moving into the area until March at the earliest but a good contact couldn't hurt!  My email address is: emilyanne907 at yahoo dot com.
  • We live in Mandeville and are considering buying a house... we have either settled on the lake front *kinda artsy* or Madisonville because it's more rural. I just love that little town. It's so nice and everyone there is nice, it's becoming quite the hot spot for real estate too. We have our kids in awesome schools, and all thier teachers have even commented on the fact that Madisonville school's are "an unknown treasure". I don't think you could go wrong with either actually.

  • Our house is in Covington, but we actually live right on the edge of Madisonville to where our house is close to "downtown" Madisonville than it is to Covington.  it is a really nice area.  Right now that area is really heating up.  They are building a bunch of new stores and subdivisions.  So far dh and I like it up here, but we both work on the Northshore so we don't have to tackle the Causeway every morning.
  • Madisonville and mandeville are both just the cutest towns, I have family on the N shore and the entire area is really great. however, in order to get downtown you have to either take the Causeway ( a 24 mile long toll bridge that sits just feet above the water line and can get fogged in)  after this you have to drive through metairie traffic to get into the downtown area. Alternately you can go around to Slidell and take the twinspans.

I love the northshore and would have bought my home there in a heartbeat but at the time I had to be at work within a 45 minute window if called and the commute made that impossible.
  • My Dh works at One Shell Square, smack in the middle of downtown and it takes him 45 min to get to work with no probs, and he's excited over the new construction on I-10, they are expanding the lanes, and says when it's finished it will drastically cut his commute. As far as the tolls, get a toll tag and it's cheaper, everyone here has one. It's worth the commute and stuff if you are going to have a family. Our schools are worth it! I love the neighborhoods, it's country almost, without being country if that makes any sense!
