Name Change Poll (clicky)

I haven't changed mine yet and am curious what everyone did. Let's hear it![Poll]

Re: Name Change Poll (clicky)

  • I'm in the midst of the name change process. It's arduous, for sure, but I've already tackled most of the "big ones" -- DMV, SSA, Credit Cards...

  • I changed mine to M's last name. I kept my middle name since it's Korean and it has some meaning to me.   I still have to change it with some old retirement plans from previous employers.
  • I'm traditional in that regard, but I still mourn a little for my old name. I'm holding onto it a bit with little things I haven't changed it with like the utility company.

btw, SBS - I paged you yesterday.

  • I feel the same way, I don't want to give mine up! I will go from a very distinctive, uncommon Italian last name to a very common "American" last name. It's so weird but I feel like my identity will be taken away if I change it!

I also don't want to drop my middle name because it's also my mom's and my daughter's. And weirdly, SIL's.

And double weirdly SIL's name rhymes with mine (let's call us Candy and Sandy for fun!) Then we have the same middle name and will have the same last name too--that's weird, right?!

  • Haven't changed it, and don't plan to until 2014.
  • I've changed mine, dropped my maiden name completely.  My name was so common before that I never really liked it anyway.  However, there are still little things that I keep realizing I havent changed, i.e. frequent flyer miles, my voicemail at work (oops - didnt realize that one until the hubs left me a message today asking why I havent), etc.
  • Am I the only one that half the time the clicky polls don't show up for???

I'll answer verbally instead: Took my maiden name as my mn and took his last name.  I'm probably 90% changed over (all the biggies are done, just have my passport and some lesser stuff to do)

I rarely do this anymore (am getting used to the new name I guess), but I found it handy to have my maiden name as a mn during the transition.  This way if I screw up and write my old ln, its still a legit legal signature if I just add the new name.  Score!

Also during my exam today, one that could get me a certificate to frame on the wall at work, I made sure they had my full name.  I figure I want all of who I am represented.

  • I have decided to change my name by hyphenation. I've done all the work for my SS card, and have it. I opened up another cc in my new last name, but I haven't do anything else. I need to get into the DMV, but I really just don't want to go. I know they're going to make me buy a new card and I really don't want to spend $80 right now on a new license.
  • I have all the big parts of the name change done ss card, pass port, and so on have some of my crdit cards that still need to be done but will get thier

Was this because of a passport?

  • You got it. I half jokingly told my husband that I would change my name when my passport expires, which is 2014.

It's stupid, but I want to fill the thing up, before it gets holes punched in it and i have to get a new one. I think I have 2 full pages left.

  • I changed my name to my husband's name, but still go by my maiden name professionally.
  • I changed my last name to my husbands, I am Mrs. A in all aspects, school work, facebook (haha)... everything
  • I kept my name and don't plan on changing it soon. I took me a long time to change my last name legally and now I want to keep it.
