How man wks to have baby shower at?

I'm being asked if I want to have my baby shower the wkend of Nov 28, I'll be 35 weeks that weekend, is that too late?

Part of me thinks it should be fine since baby isn't due until Jan 3 (and will very likely be late) but then i was thinking how Jen just had her baby at 35 weeks and it got me wondering....

I doubt it could be done more than a week or two earlier (since clearly not much has been done yet) but since I'm being asked my opinion do you think I should suggest moving it up? Or from your experience would having it at 35 weeks be okay.

I think 35 weeks or so is pretty standard. I had mine at 34 weeks. I think SIL had hers at 36 weeks.

I had one at 33w and one at 34w. I had no problems having them at this time in the pregnancy. The only issue I can see is if you don't get something you need and you have to wait a long time for it to come in (ie: it took 12 weeks for my stroller to come in).

The ones I have been to varied between 32 and 36 weeks!

IMO I think 35 is fine but if you're a little worried then why not make it 32/33 wks?

I personally wanted my shower later on but my MIL didn't want it to close to the holiday season (which aparently ment November & December - the way she explained it was if someone is at the mall getting my gift and sees something on their X-Mas list they'll spend less on my gift. Whatever Confused )

So mine will be when I'm 27 weeks...if I had it my way I'd want it at around 33 wks.

I think its fine. Whoever is hosting can always let the guests know about a possible alternative date, just in case you end up having the baby on that date. The statistics show that most first time babies are born late so you should be ok :-)

I had three showers: one at 34w, one at 36w and one at 37w. I think 35 weeks will be fine. 37w was definitely too late, but since it wasn't my only shower I was fine with having it that late. If I had to wait until 3 weeks before my due date to start my getting everything organized (stuff washed and put away, plus completing what you didn't receive) I would have been stressed.

Shannon I had one shower at 34 weeks and the second at 36 weeks. I was very comfortable at both!

Thanks for all the replies ladies! I knew you'd be able to shed some light. 35 weeks sounds like it will be just fine so I will tell them to go ahead and plan for whatever suits them best.
