Since MrsDe is probably lying on a beach in Turks & Caicos, i'll get us started!!
DH and i had a fantastic time in DE with my family for my grandma's 80th bday! (which is actually today) My mom is also visiting from NM so it was nice to see her too.
Also got to see my 2 cousins who are both seniors; one in high school, one in college. And we just ate a lot of food, hung out with my grandma, talked and laughed the whole weekend! And she *loved* the lap blanket i crocheted for her! I was so nervous!
Re: How was your weekend?
I had a pretty nice weekend. Friday I just hung out by myself and relaxed after my crazy work week with some wine and Guitar Hero.
Saturday we went to over the house (can't wait to say our house) and measured some rooms so we know beforehand how much paint we need and stuff like that. Then we went to help the ILs take down some (very dated) mirrors, then we had dinner with some friends I hadn't seen in a while.
Sunday we had to make a surprise trip into the city to identify some tools that were stolen off my construction site and make sure the site got secured (somebody broke in and stole a crap load of tools, but they caught the guy.) After that we just relaxed a little, then went to the ILs to do laundry and watch football.
(I can't wait til I I have my own washer & dryer)
It was a great weekend - but also felt very busy!!
Friday: I can't remember, blame it on the baby brain. oh wait, no, we picked up the two boston terriers we were puppy sitting and watch the three of them become raging bandits running around our apartment!
Saturday: Woke up early to go to the farmer's market. DH & I walked the pups and we met up with a friend. Then dropped our stuff and the pups off at the apartment. We then started what turned into a very long shopping day: brooklyn thrift store, coffee shop, DSW, motherhood maternity (just looking), Target, Marshalls, Oldnavy and then a long walk to another thrift store. At that point it was raining and it definitely made the day a little bit less fun. We finally made it back home and had dinner at Brooklyn Fish Camp (soooo good!). We got home around 7pm and I read for a little and went to bed at 9pm! I literally crashed!
Sunday: Agility class with Sydney - she's sooo good! its a lot of fun! Then brunch with a friend, picked up laundry, and then home to relax and catch up on some hulu tv!
too short but otherwise pretty good.
my ILs are coming on saturday so we spent a lot of time getting our place in order, doing laundry, and errands. (nova - i too dream of having my own washer & dryer . . .)?
DH was a champ and spent a lot of saturday traipsing around the city searching for a dress with me (going to a wedding in two weeks and still dress hunting!) ?
had a yummy dinner at salam on 13th street (just off 6th ave) saturday night. pomegranate sangria +?moroccan/middle eastern fare + funky decor = good date with DH
?
i am so not ready for monday!?
?
Hey ladies:
I wish I was Bonnie right now.
Fri: went out for dinner, then headed home and just chilled
Saturday: DH worked so I did laundry, then went shopping in LI. We finally ordered the rest of the windows for the house...whew!
Sunday: woke up early to go to church but we tried to turn on the boiler and ended up with a flooded basement. One of the broken baseboards is still leaking water. I give up!
Plumber is coming in this evening...but I am sure I will have lots of more mopping to do. After that, the day was basically shot. I cooked and then relaxed.

Meggie- glad you had fun in DE!
Nova- so exciting to start picking out finishes for your house!
Liza- I can?t believe you had all those pups! Sounds fun.
Cheeky-let me know if you find a dress. I have a wedding on October 31st. I have to get moving on dress shopping as well.
Lawby- you are a saint. I don?t know how you are dealing with all of this!
My weekend was supposed to be relaxing, but it ended up being very full. Friday night we went out to dinner and saw a play. Saturday we got up early and ran a bunch of errands and then came home and made a big dinner (yummy veggie un-meatloaf and asparagus). Sunday my Dad was in town, so we went food shopping and made a big dinner and I made DH a 7-layer cookie cake for his B-Day. It was great, but it took 3 hours. Ugh! I feel like the weekend just flew by.
I woke up this morning feeling crappy- hopefully it will pass.
Have a great week ladies. :-)
Hey, did the nest crash for anyone else? Hmm...
Nova and Busybride, I am not patient by nature but I think this house has forced me to become patient or else I would be running wildly in the streets pulling my hair by now. LOL I keep myself sane by remembering that the house was a foreclosure and when its done, it will basically be exactly (well not exactly due to budget restraints) as we like it since we are renovating it.
DH was cursing up a storm yesterday when we realized that the hot water was gushing out of the burst pipe. I was calm (surprisingly) telling him that there are folks out there who had it worst. We got our wet vac out and did as much as we could. After about an hour, we gave up. The leak was just a little trickle at that point, so I placed some towels around. The plumber should be home as I type this. He is DH's buddy so at least we don't have to pay him this time. LOL
Thanks for the concern though. But we are hanging in there.
3 more days to go for you Nova...despite my horror stories, trust me there is nothing like homeownership. I havent begun to enjoy it, but I still love it already. Good luck for the closing.

Good to hear everyone had such busy and fun weekends.
On Saturday DH brought me to a library booksale to cheer me up, and it worked well as I left with 4 cookbooks--an old Martha Stewart, a lovely one by Susan Branches, and a 2-part set from the 60s of French scenes and recipes. Afterwords we went paddling and on the lake by ourselves, looked up to see a soaring bald eagle in the sky, circling and then diving down to pluck his dinner from the waters. We watched him fly off to a tree where his partner was perched. I'd never seen these birds so close in the wild. Absolutely amazing.
After giving up on an hour-long wait at one of our favorite places, we went on a lark to Hooters for dinner. Not really the silly spectacle I thought it would be.
My weekend was good!
Friday night I just hung out at home with the H....made some pasta for dinner, drank some wine and caught up on our DVR.
Saturday, I picked up an extra volunteer shift with my kitty rescue, so that took up my morning/afternoon! The place was crazy busy, but my favorite little guy, who'd been there for several weeks, finally had a couple put an application on him, so that made me happy. (But a little sad too...DH and I had talked about maybe fostering/adopting him! He went to a good home though, so that's what's important.)
Saturday night we went up to the UES and hung out with some friends that were in town from Boston. Played drinking games, stayed out waaaay too late and generally had a fun time being ridiculous and immature.
Most of yesterday I was in recovery mode....I'm too old to party! Hehe.
