I have a (partially) fake tooth now
I finally heard back from my dentist's office this morning (about my chipped tooth from Friday) and they squeezed me in over my lunch hour. I have a feeling they thought I was calling all weekend about a normal-size chip, not a 30%-of-my-tooth-is-missing kind of chip.
1-1/2 hours later, I have a tooth that's half real enamel, and half resin. It's kind of amazing how natural it looks!
Lesson #1: Do not play with other people's dogs when they are excited about having strangers in the house.
Lesson #2: Go to the dentist regularly so they have pictures of what your teeth are supposed to look like.

Oh no! That dog must of been really excited to see you.
My brother had to ahve this done too. But his was a big chip. Its about 15 years later and you still can't tell.
Oh wow
Ouch.
I'm so glad it's all taken care of now, what a relief... it is amazing to see what they can do to make things look like the real thing.
I love Hawaii!

Oh wow, what did the dog do?!?
I chipped half of my front tooth on the cement when I was 10. Chipped my other front tooth on the side of a swimming pool 2 years later, then the same one again on a needle when I was sewing 10+ years later =P I hate the tingly pain you get when you chip your tooth!
thanks for the tips
glad you got in to get it fixed and that they did such a great job!
Eeeeek! I'm so glad they did a good job on the tooth - those repairs really are amazing, aren't they?
I live in fear of my front teeth breaking - they both have hairline fractures running through them from a bike accident I got in when I was 8. Since they were still alive and seemed to be holding together, my dentist recommended at the time that I just keep them, and if they broke later on (which she estimated would happen in my late teens), then we could repair them. I'm now 28 and they're still fine, so I still haven't gotten them fixed, but when I'm eating something hard or crunchy, I still worry that that will be the time they'll break.
I was at a friend's housewarming party and his dog (a huge black lab) was wandering underfoot all night. He hadn't jumped up on anyone, so I figured he was excited but behaving remarkably well. I bent over him and was scratching his ears, telling him he was a good dog, etc. and I must've encouraged him a little too much! He jumped up (like he was going to give me a doggy kiss) and ran into my face so hard that his tooth broke my tooth. Yikes!
OUCH! I've had dogs do this before and I thought for a minute that I must have broken a tooth, but I've never actually had it happen - that must have really hurt!!!
OUCH! That's must've hurt!! Sounds like the type of thing our dog would do to someone--we're still trying to break her jumping-at-ppl's-face-to-kiss-them habit =/
