How inconsiderate can someone be?

Now I realize that this may be me over reacting more than I would if I weren't pregnant, but I stikk think it was inconsiderate.

One of the girls in my office walks in this morning and starts saying how she isn't feeling well and how she had a fever all weekend.  Well, our office manager got ahold of her and told her she needed to be tested for the flu.  She refused.  The doctor we work for told her she needed to be tested for the flu.  She refused again.  Then this afternoon, he came back and told her that she needed to get tested, there was no arguing.  So she finally went and got tested, around 230.  Well, of course her test came back positive (they automatically are treating for swine flu due to how early in the season it is).  She was told to put a mask on immediately and wouldn't, until one of the other drs gave it to her. Then she wouldn't wear the mask the correct way.  She even had the audacity to ask if she could stay the rest of the day!  I told her no, she needed to leave now.  (She didn't like that too much, but oh well).  She dragged her feet and didn't leave until after 3.

So here she is spending the majority of the day touching things I touch, breathing the air I breath and exposing me to her flu germs.  And of course she wasn't the least bit sorry for any of it.  I sure hope she doesn't try to come in tomorrow!

  • I would be mad also. I mean come on, do people not realize that this flu stuff is serious. I think you can recover but why in the world would you come to work sick....ughhh.

Friday afternoon I was eating at McDonalds with Kelsey and my MIL and we hear this lady say to a friend she saw....he has has a fever for 3 days and out of school but its not as high today so I think he is getting better.....ummm WHAT? you brought your sick child to McDonalds inside to eat and play on the playground...why must you be so dumb!

  • That is horrible! Our office mgr was sick about a month ago, not sure if she had the flu or not. But she came in on a monday, she called out tuesday (thank you!), and she was back on wednesday still hacking up a lung and everything else! But our dr gave her aguilt trip so she had to come in.... well it went around our whole front office. receptionist #1 got sick the next week. she called out on a monday, and was back on tuesday.. then recep #2 got sick, she was out mon/tues & wed...and i was sick the same time, but i couldnt call out bc recep #2 was out.. Oh, and we don't have any paid benefits so we can't afford to be out. It's not fair! It was ridiculous for our ofc mgr to come to work as sick as she was..

  • We have to deal with the same thing to. Day care policy is to send a kid home when they have a temp of 101 or higher. And they are not allowed back to school the next day. They can't come back until 24 hours fever free WITHOUT MEDICATION!!!! so many parents will keep them out the next day, but send them in on the 3rd day when they still have a bit of a temp, but not high enough to be out of school--- and you know they gave them some Tylenol before sending them in. There isn't much else we can do, except wait till later in the day when the temp will be higher and send them home AGAIN> its tough, because we know the parents have to work and thats why they send the kids to day care in the first place, but at the same time we don't want the illness to cycle through to everyone!

  • I just went to go get some more vitamins so I can bulk up my immune system. Working at a grocery store means big time problems with germs - I come into contact with thousands of people each day (I work at a very high volume store, the biggest in our city). You have to be so careful and just make sure you keep washing your hands.?

  • Sick people need to stay home and NOT spread it around to everyone else!  You are not over-reacting, it's just common courtesy.
