Facebook wtf

My ex-boyfriend's younger brother's girlfriend who I have NEVER met just tried to befriend me on facebook. Weird, yes? What do I do about that?

Re: Facebook wtf

  • Yeah, I'd just ignore it. Whenever I see a request and my first reaction is HUHN?!?, I promptly click "ignore" =P

  • I'm 33, and my lil bro is 21.  As a general rule, I see a huge difference in the way our age groups use FB.  It seems that my peers need to know someone in real life before accepting a friend request, but my bro's friends will go sending friend requests to people they merely know in common.  I am friends with my lil bro's best friends on FB (because I know them IRL), but I OFTEN get requests from his friends whom I've never met -- and sometimes haven't even heard of!

I agree with pp -- simply ignore.  No need to respond.  If you ever do meet IRL and she brings it up, just say you don't accept requests from peeps you've never actually met.

  • I agree with pps - this is exactly what the ignore button was invented for!

If it makes you feel any better, I'm currently trying to decide whether or not to accept an invite from someone that I used to know as a teen. We were never quite in the same peer group (I'm older than she is), but she was good friends with my little brother. Which is all well and good, but...do we really need to be FB friends, you know?

  • Okay! Good advice! I always feel so awkward ignoring people!

Ditto this!  My little sister is 20 and I'm 29 and the same things happen to me.  I hit the ignore button often and sometimes do a little friend "house keeping" too Stick out tongue
