We live in Philly but have to go to a wedding right in Wilkes Barre this weekend. We are staying over and wondering if there is anything worth doing in that area or on the way back on Sunday? Any good spots for brunch up that way or on the way home? Anything else? I
Also, we are currently staying at the Ramada Public Square- that is where wedding is. Are there any more luxurious hotels nearby? It seems like all Wilkes Barre area has is motels and no regular hotels.

Re: Wilkes Barre area
If you're a fan of The Office, you could always go "tour" Scranton
Having grown up in that area, it's sad that all that comes to my mind right now is Steamtown if you're into trains. The Station Hotel in Scranton has a Sunday brunch buffet that is supposed to be very good.
As for more luxurious hotels, maybe the Woodlands - it's not right downtown, but they probably offer some suites or higher end rooms. They also have a brunch buffet.
DH and I visited Coopers Seafood house in Scranton (featured on The Office) this summer and I LOVED it!!! I had totally been up for 36 hours (gotta love working 7pm-7am), hadn't eaten in like 12 and had 2 margaritas before dinner though so perhaps my judgement was a little blurred...
It should be a pretty drive this time of year with all the changing leaves.
I don't think your judgement was blurred. I went to college in Scranton and I always heard fabulous things about Coopers. I don't eat seafood, so I never went there myself, but most of my friends loved it.
Another vote for the Woodlands - they have great rooms and a bit more upscale I'd say (at least the one we stayed in felt upscale to me!). They have a few restaurant choices in the hotel complex but I believe they've changed since I stayed there last, so I can't comment. The area iself has been built up a bit more over the past few years, so you could do some shopping or find other restaurants very easily. The Wachovia Arena is there too, maybe you could catch a hockey game while you're in Wilkes-Barre?
