Starting to get nervous...
for my half marathon on Saturday.
I've been a bit worried about everything to do with the race, but I'm also WAY excited. I was stressting about what to wear, because I figured the weather would be 50 - 55, and I wasn't sure if I should wear long sleeves and running tights or not.
Well - the beautiful forecast for Fargo, ND / Moorhead,MN on Saturday is a high of 39 with possible snow flurries. I guess I know that I'll want long sleeves! I also have a slight cold, so I'm hoping that clears by Saturday.
Any words of wisdom to help me focus at work for the rest of the week? I have a bunch to do, and I've been more distracted every day this week.

Re: Starting to get nervous...
Holy smokes thats cold! My lungs would freeze!!! It still so hot here, in the 90's today i believe!
I have no words of encouragement, I myself am distracted by the thought of running. I went to runnersworld.com yesterday and found some 5k's that are coming up. I think i'm going to do one Nov 21st, and Dec 19th. Im pretty excited, so all i can think about is getting out of work so i can run! lol. I keep going on the runnersworld website and sporting good sites looking at heart rate monitors, and i want a GPS that will tell me my distance (i tried taking my regular Garmin GPS and it doesnt seem to be accurately tracking me).
I cant wait to hear about how your half marathon! I read a blog from one of the girls on the health and fitness board, she did the full marathon, it was really awesome! I told H I want to get "serious" about running he didn't laugh at me, so thats good.
Jena - it's crazy how addictive runnersworld.com can be! I will definately give you an update after my race.
I too would LOVE to do a full marathon some day. DH is fine with everything as long as I don't spend too much money on races and running apparel. Also - I try to do my runs early in the morning or over lunch at work so that it doesn't cut too much into us spending time together. Side note - it's crazy how much money you can spend on running stuff. Suddenly I want new "moisture-wicking" clothes, sports bra, and I'd love a GPS-heart rate monitor combo. I also find I need new shoes at least every 300 miles. $$$
Right now I almost always looks forward to my runs, so I HOPE DH is wrong about it being just a phase that I've gotten so into running:) I think he's worried that if I decide to train for a full marathon, then I will have 3 hour + runs on the weekend which will cut into our time to be together, clean house, work on our yard, remodeling, etc...
I don't know that i'll ever want to do a full marathon, 26.2 miles just sounds like such a long freakin' way! 13 miles is far too. I'm hoping I can do the 3miles for the 5k. Right now I can run walk about 2.5 miles, so another .5 miles isnt that far. The lake we walk/jog around is 1.5 miles and we usually do about 3-5 laps, so i know thats more then 3 miles, but we usually walk more then we run. The girl i go w/ has a deviated septum and this makes her breathing all crazy, so she has a hard time running very far. I am going to run with my sister Saturday morning, and im really excited about this because she runs every day , or close to it, and she is going to do one of the 5ks with me!
I'm not sure how much H will let me spend on anything. I haven't bought anything yet. I have to find a heart rate monitor that won't cost us a fortune then convince him that I need it. I told him last night my garmin doesnt track me right, so i planted that seed in his head
lol!!! So i have to find something that will track me as well... But i first have to convince him that this isn't just a phase. I have been jogging/walking/bike riding since June, so i've been doing it for a while now. I also need some clothes, i have 2 sports bras, neither are great quality. and i usually just run in a pair of cotton capris and one of H "wifebeate" tank top things. I cant stand to run in a full shirt, EW i cant stand the shirt sticking to me. ew. and shoes, hmm, not sure about shoes. I have 2 pairs of nike shox that I run in right now. I have a 3rd pair but they hurt my feet. I'm not sure if shox are even good shoes for running. Ohhh I have SO much to learn!
