Vent: Furious!....

My dog got heartworm several months ago. He was treated when it was first detected, and the big worms were sucessfully killed. He went back a few weeks later to have a second treatment to kill larvae and microfilaria.

First test indicated that the larvae and microfilaria were not killed. He got another treatment. We found out today that they are still not killed.

The vet says 'It could be because he's a big dog, which makes the larvae harder to kill.' I don't give a crap about the size of my dog - he's 100lbs., not 200 lbs. and I'm sure that other 100lb. dogs have successfully been treated for heartworm before.

I'm furious. Why can't they get this right? We have an appt. with a different office tomorrow morning. My poor puppy :(
