I need your favorite Potluck recipe
DS's pre-school is having a Family Halloween Potluck party and we need to bring one main dish or side dish as well as a dessert. For the dessert I'm thinking of doing Halloween cupcakes or cookies but I'm open to any other ideas.
TIA
Re: I need your favorite Potluck recipe
Cupcakes are fun and you can easily make them halloween themed.
This recipe would be good for a main dish and keeps well in a crockpot.

It's very kid friendly - my niece ate more than I did the last time I made them. I don't use this recipe for meatballs and I sometimes omit the green peppers when I'm making it in a crock pot.
I think this is a good idea. Especially with kids, some of whom may be picky about what they eat.
I have always loved my Mom's Pistachio Marshmallow Salad. This recipe looks just the same except she uses canned mandarin orange slices instead of pineapple. Of course, pistachio, so watch out for nut allergies. http://www.tasteofhome.com/Recipes/Pistachio-Mallow-Salad
I've always been partial for lasagnas for main courses. My fiance's favorite recipe is from Kraft. http://www.kraftfoods.com/kf/recipes/simply-lasagna-69196.aspx
Spanakopitas! Quite easy too... I use a block of feta and a block of frozen chopped spinach, and make triangles using phyllo dough. You can also mix a bit of cream cheese into the mixture. Even sauteed mushrooms or onions.
Disclaimer: I have no idea how kid friendly they are as they do contain spinach, but they are quite tasty due to the cheese. Maybe the parents will like them?

If there are lots of desserts, maybe do something different?
When I was in grade 1, my class went apple picking the morning of our turn at the monthly bake sale (the halloween one). ?My mom brought a whole bunch of gummi worms, and then got a bushel of apples and we cut the gummy worms in half, and stuck them to the apples. ?
?The apples sold out faster than any cakes or cookies! ?
?
?
For a meal, maybe cold skewers? ?cherry tomatoes, pearl mozzarella... stuff like that on half skewers.?
...or try these!

finger sandwiches are always a hit with the kiddos!
Dolly (I know you are JanieJones but you will forever be my dolly) - that apple and gummy worm idea is awesome!
LOL that's okay. ?Sometimes when I see my new screen name paged I don't realize people are trying to talk to me. ? I guess I'll still be dolly in my mind forever too.
