Need help for back pain

I went to the dr. yesterday due to dull pain in my back that is not going away.  Apparently I have a muscle spasm.  They gave me mild muscle relaxants, but I need some help with exercises / stretches that will help me strengthen my back/abs to prevent this.  So if anyone has any suggestions or websites, I'd appreciate it!

Oh, and I can't really rest my back, because I'm sure they cause of my back pain is picking up my DD, and it's not like I can stop doing that!

Re: Need help for back pain

  • I'm sorry!

These have been a huge help for me. I have a relatively effed up back, and they are seriously, seriously helpful with stretching without pain. They're also a good way to learn and contine deep breathing patterns.

Have you ever done yoga? If you already have some (even very basic) experience, I'd suggest going to Yoga Journal and looking through their back pain exercises. Just make sure you're being very gentle with yourself and breathing breathing breathing so you don't hurt yourself more!

The other things that have been really helpful for me are deep tissue massage and being sure to stretch and strengthen the antagonist muscles to the ones you're working on in your back, so that you're not winding up unbalanced overall and in pain.

I hope you feel better soon!
