Whoa

I know this is pretty normal but holy cow at all the mail I received from lawyers and chiropractors. My poor H was hoping for a few birthday cards and all of this came spilling out of the mailbox just from today.

Re: Whoa

  • How does that all work? Does every lawyer and chiro get notified of an accident and just leaps on the victims??

  • Yeah everything is online now and since it's public record they just pull copies of it all and mail out brochures to anyone in an accident. I opened up one of them and it had a copy of the full police report - something I didn't even have a copy of yet myself. Guess I have it now!

  • Now I understand why they call lawyers ambulance chasers!

(no disprespect to any J9 lawyer types!)

Dude me too, I never expected all of this. I called my dad and he said he got a bunch of letters in the mail too.

  • Wow. I had this happen to me too, but nowhere near as many letters. And I didn't get any "pain and suffering" settlement. Boo for me. Yay for you! (even though I know it sucks to have your new car hit)

  • That's crazy! I had a wreck a month ago and didn't get anything! I guess it depends on the state!  Interesting!
  • Yeah NC is an at-fault state. This is part of the reasons personal injury lawyer types jump all over accidents like mine because I suppose I could have sued for more. I chose not to because I don't have any serious injuries so I don't feel entitled to more money than what was offered. It would have been bad karma IMO.

  • lol, I love how you took a picture of your mail!  ;-)

Has your back/neck been feeling better?

  • I feel much better than I did on Wednesday (the day after). Still a bit sore but nothing some ibuprofen isn't taking care of.

  • wow, that is crazy. We are a no fault state too, so i have never seen anything like public mailings...

and i personally take no offense to ambulance chasing comments: my law school actually sponsors a 5K with the medical school for charity and its called "the ambulance chase". And i have no plans on being a personal injury attorney so i make fun of them all the time...
