salem, mass. in the fall...
what's happening? DH & I are visiting this fall with a few friends...I wanted to reach out to the experts...what are the hits/misses? tia!
Re: salem, mass. in the fall...
Salem is a huge Halloween town (due to the Salem Witch Trials back in the day). So if you're coming in the next few weeks it should be pretty fun if you're into Halloween. There's a lot of history and museums to check out. I haven't been up there in (about 10) years though.
The weather is unpredicable, so bring layers. When the sun goes down it gets pretty cold, even when the day was warm.
Check this website out for all the fun and activities.

It's wonderful just to walk around Salem. If you are a history/literature buff don't miss House of Seven Gables. The Peabody Essex Museum is a wonderful museum to see, especially the Yin Yu Tang House. Try to stay away from the tacky monster/witch museums.
The only downside to this is that driving around Salem at that time, and trying to find parking is a PITA. But if you can plan accordingly, you'll have a blast!
