The last few days have got me thinking about how often people speak with their siblings, whether you live in the same city or different cities. Lately I've just been thinking a lot about my family & friends and how being in a different city than everyone can really suck sometimes. I have been feeling really disconnected. So...a little poll for this Friday morning:
- How many siblings do you have?
- Do you live in the same city as them?
- How often do you talk on the phone, or get together?
- Do they have kids? If so, are you close with your niece(s)/nephew(s) and do they make the effort to keep you involved?
Re: Siblings Poll
We'll just not tell H about this little fact, m'kay?
I have three sisters. We do live in the same city. One of my sisters calls me about once a week just to chat, and I see all of them (at the same time) at least once a week, sometimes more. They don't have kids (they are kids) but I will definitely make the effort to be close to my nieces/nephews whenever they appear (you know, 10+ years from now...). I want my kids to be close to them because I think they'll be positive role models for my kids- my sisters will be young enough to be "cool" in the eyes of my kids but still be old enough to set a good example, I think.
On the flip side of that, I'll probably be the old fart to their kids- nearly as old as their grandparents! lol.
1. One - a brother
2. Nope. We live about an hour away from each other
3. When his gf broke up with him, we spoke almost daily - either phone, FB or text messaging. Now that's she's back on the scene, he doesn't "need" my attention so much. Sad, really. He was really into DD's life for those months and now has disappeared bc his gf is his whole damn existence. *shakes head*
4. No. I'm the one with the kid. And he used to make a super effort, driving down once a week and playing with her and staying here for dinner. We really bonded well and I was loving having him so involved in our family life (he's a bit of a homebody, so he tends to be more on the quiet/not sharing side). But, like I said, now that he's back together with gf, he hasn't made a single effort to visit my daughter. Booooo Uncle.. Booooo

3. My younger bro is only 15 so when I see my parents I get to see him, usually once every couple of weeks. As for my older bro, we don't see each other as much because he has such a busy schedule.
4. No kids for my older brother yet. Hopefully soon.

Mostly over email, and might see them once a year.
None of us have kids, and I am the only one of us trying for them at present
