...by a guy I used to work with. He became a pastor of some sort and apparently did not agree with my stance on gay marriage (I support it) or my statement that I believe gay people should receive tax breaks until they can enjoy the same privileges as every other American. Not quite sure what to make of this. Am I:
1) worried that someone so close-minded is leading an entire congregation of people?
2) worried that a pastor is totally ignoring the main point of the Bible, "Do unto others as you would have done to you." oh yeah, and the whole not judging others thing too.
Ugh. This is really bothering me for some reason.

Why Mames, I am an obnoxious FBer right? LOL!
I don't care, I have fun with it and it saves me from having to have phone conversations with 2 children climbing on me! haha.
Yes I ma certain it was because of our difference, it was accompanied by an explanation that was quite amusing. He couldn't be associated with 'people of my beliefs,' wouldn't want 'anyone in his church to know that he had friends in his social circle who would so blatantly disregard the church's teachings etc."
I honestly think the real reason I am mad is because one day, 12 years ago, I came in to work. He asked me "why are you always so happy?" and I replied "I go to church." I have no idea why I said that at the time, it's not really like me to be preachy, but I am really agitated that I basically am the one who introduced him to the idea of going to church (he did start going soon after that and told me it was because of what I said). And then he pulls this holier-than-thou sh!t with me. So freaking irritating!?
The Catholic priest at my parents' church is so awesome and welcoming, they even have a few gay couples come in for mass. It's just totally sickening that some people take it upon themselves to judge others, especially when they are in a position of influence.
Ugh! Thanks for listening guys! My family is asleep and I am pissed so I can't relax!?
Ha, far from an obnoxious FBer! I was just FB dumped yesterday by a guy who broke up with my friend. So people dump for odd reasons. I've even purged a few just because they really had no reason to be on my list. The annoying ones I hide.
Ugh he really said that??? He and those who are sooo full of hypocrisy it's coming out of their ears make my blood boil. It's an issue I can get so worked up over because, like you, I'm a gay rights supporter. Free speech - people can disagree, yadda yadda, but hiding behind a cloak of religion is a blatant copout and just doesn't make any logical sense to me. Even if I was a big believer in Christianity, I'd focus on the good parts -- "Love your neighbor." Not "Be a big douchebag and deny others the rights you fully partake of."

If my damn symbols would work. I would totally give this a thumbs up. Thanks to just dandy also!
I am really loving Belle Du Jour lately for make-up too if you're interested. My bumpits came today, haha! giggity giggity. I think I am buzzed so I better go to sleep before I embarrass myself further.
And to answer your question, Chloe would totally come to Charleston to hang out on plantations and eat amazing food!

At the risk of being flamed, I'm going to say this:
Just because people are against gay marriage does NOT mean that they are "close minded". They're against it because the Bible says it's wrong. There's a big difference.
I myself am a born-again Christian. I am most definitely against gay marriage; HOWEVER, I find it completely wrong that a pastor would delete you just because you don't feel the same way. That almost gives the opposite of the whole "love the sinner; hate the sin" thing. I think that it is a terrible testimony for a Christian to be like that and I think it gives Christians a bad name.

We should start a new thread about this topic! I don't want to bring up specifics about his guy, but let's just suffice it to say he is really hypocritical and holier-than-thou and THAT is what I have a problem with. I appreciate your views though.
I hope your house sells soon, but it would be cool to meet you when we get up there!?
I have a problem with that, too. Like I said, I think it gives Christians a bad name when other people who claim to be Christians behave like that.
