renting a Rug Doctor

Hey ladies,

Have any of you rented a rug doctor or anything similar to clean your carpets yourself? I am thinking about it and I've never rented one before. Are they hard to operate? Are they worth it? How much do they cost? I really didn't want to call a professional company to come out since it isn't cheap and I have the time these days to do this myself.

Any suggestions are appreciated! TIA!?

Re: renting a Rug Doctor

  • I rented one from kroger before. It is much cheaper than a company. I don't know that it is as good as a pro, but it does get a lot of the spots and dirt up. It is easy to do.
  • We have rented them a lot. You can get the regular one for $25 for 24 hours or the wide one for $30 for 24 hours and then the cleaning solution costs about $10 and will be more than enough. They work WAY better than any carpet cleaner that you can buy, they have a very strong motor. They are easy to use and do a great job. The only thing that I think is worth hiring a professional for is when they comb the carpet and make it look fluffy and brand new. Otherwise, its worth it to save the money.
