Do you have the heat on?

I just realized it's 47 out and 61 inside.  I am thinking it should be warmer than that in here?

Re: Do you have the heat on?

  • Today was the first day we turned it on.  I was freezing--this is crazy so early in Oct.
  • We're holding out as long as possible, but if it keeps getting colder, I'm going to have to turn it on earlier than I wanted. It's still 67 in our apartment, though. 61 inside is a very good reason to turn it on, in my opinion!

  • We have not turned ours on yet...trying to wait another week or so at least.  Our thermostat hasn't dropped below 65 yet, thankfully.  We did pull out a space heater that we'll turn on for a bit to take the chill off the room, but mostly we're just wearing warmer clothes and snuggling w/ blankets if we're cold.
  • DH keeps telling me how warm he is and I am in jeans and a sweatshirt covered with a blanket and a kitten sleeping on my chest!!! I keep telling him him being hot is not a reflection of the temperature in the house but he doesn't listen to me. At this rate, I won't see heat until it snows. Maybe he'll let me turn it on for my birthday in November :o(

  • We just turned it on like 10 minutes ago and only bc we have DS. It was 64 in our house.
  • Yep, but just barely.  I've been freezing for weeks, though. :P
  • No heat for us yet.  I want to wait for awhile, although it's 64 in our house currently.

  • Never mind about my previous post. DH found our cat curled up under the comforter on our bed (she's 5 and we've never seen her do this before) so he finally believed me that the 61 degree temp is too  cold in the house!!!

That and we're watching the Phillies game which makes you cold just to watch it. Who wants to play baseball in this weather??? It's below freezing there for goodness sake!

  • No... BUT we don't turn it on until it is under 60 in our house. Our house is 63 right now, which is where it would be with our heat on. (What can I say? We like it cold!)

  • We just turned it on... it was getting too cold in here for Jack and Bella... otherwise it would not be on yet
  • We do but just enough to take the chill out of the house. We are really impressed with the ability of the new house to hold heat in though, we have it set at 63 and the house is staying at 65.

  • Yes unfortunately we did turn the heat on last night. It was colder in the house then outside! We have an old home and its not very well insulated...the thermostat said something like 55, so I thought I better! lol Since I'm a Columbia Gas customer, I'm expecting that $170 credit thats due on my bill next month! =)

  • We turned ours on Sunday.. after we got home from lunch after church it was in the low 60s and cool.. it didnt take long to warm up. We have gas heat forced with hot water in the radiators.. so it holds the heat really well. It got too warm we had to cut it back, but I think we found a happy medium now!  I cant believe how cold its getting. I got my long sleeve shirts and sweatshirts/sweaters this weekend too.. Im prepared now!  Wink

  • just turned it on yesterday because our thermostat said 58.
  • We just turned the heat on last night, and only to take the chill out.  The thermostat is only set at 65.
  • We don't yet, although I was pretty chilly last night.  The thermostat said 61 yesterday.  I was hoping to hold out until November, but based on how hard it was to get out of my nice warm bed this morning, I don't think that's going to happen. Sad
  • Yup- I can't take anything under 65 degrees!  I should move to Florida, but since almost all of my family is up here, except my dad and grandmother, I don't know that we'd do that anytime soon.

  • I'm holding out - though w/ the frost tonight, I might have to put it on. :(  I just had my furnace cleaned, so we're good to go, anyway.
  • We are holding out!! Our apt is the first floor of an old stone house, so the only thing it's really good for is keeping the cold air in- but the temp inside hasn't dropped below 62 yet, which is good.  Our landlord doesn't allow space heaters, so last night we boiled a gallon of water in the dutch oven and set the whole thing in the middle of the living room (a makeshift mini-boiler!), and that took the chill off pretty well.

I wanted to make it to Halloween, but it's not looking like that will happen...

  • We've been holding out, but it's supposed to be in the 40s tomorrow!
  • We just turned on the heat tonight.  We were trying to hold out a little longer but ours was 61 and it was just too cold! Our poor cat came under the covers at my head twice over night last night, so we figured it wasn't just us that was cold!
