broadway or off broadway show recs
I'm planning a day trip to NYC and looking for show recommendations. Can anyone recommend something fun?
Thanks!
Re: broadway or off broadway show recs
i loved avenue Q and even DH, who doesn't love shows, thought it was a riot. are you going with friends or DH? i wouldn't recommend it if you are going with family b/c it's a little raunchy.
i still want to see wicked but i don't know if that falls under "fun" ?
In the Heights (I just saw this and it is amazing.)
Rock of Ages
Mary Poppins
Mama Mia
Wicked
If you aren't on a specific time schedule. Check out the TKTS booth in Times Square for discount tickets for the day of the show. http://tkts.com/
I am SO glad you asked this. I go to the theater all the time.
As PP said, Avenue Q is great. However, it went back to off broadywa, which is now good news for you because the tickets are now way cheaper.
Jersey Boys is great. Billy Elliott is THE ticket to get right now. Hair is supposed to be phenomenal. I saw West Side Story a couple of months ago and the spanish english thing was pretty awesome to see.
It really depends on what you are interested in seeing? Something deep, or something more touristy?
