I turn into a hermit in the winter

All this holiday, cold weather talk is making me think about what else I enjoy about the seasons. I definitely don't get SAD because I really look forward to fall, winter, the holidays, snow, sweaters, hot chocolate, etc. And for a little while I look forward to going to a cozy bar with friends or a game night. And then the novelty wears off and all I want to do is hang out by myself inside, bundled up, reading, drinking red wine, watching christmas movies, and cooking (it's even better when DH is home to share it with, but if not I'm totally fine by myself). I start to dread going out and eventually will make excuses not to join people and will spend as much time as possible inside. But I like it, in fact I probably love it. It generally starts toward the middle of January and lasts into March. My bff is the same, but she really thinks it's some form of seasonal depression. I don't because I'm happy doing it. Is that weird? Anyone else? Bueller...Bueller?

Re: I turn into a hermit in the winter

  • I hate going out in the cold and prefer to stay warm and cozy at home with DH.  I'm so lazy about going out in general now.  I think it's totally fine that you love spending time at home and don't think it's seasonal affective disorder at all.
I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball

  • Yes.  I hate being cold, because once I get a chill, it doesnt go away.  I am so much more comfy staying in doors, wrapped up in my hoodie and my booties, sipping on something hot.... mmm... now I want a snowday just so that I can do all this...
