BR: insurance other than health ins?
Do you have to update other policies? Someone said homeowner's insurance and car insurance I should let know that I'm having a baby. Did anyone else do this?
Re: BR: insurance other than health ins?
Not sure, but am curious to see the replies.
In addition to health insurance we have life insurance and renter's insurance. I am pretty sure we'll need to update both...life to make sure it includes her name as a beneficiary and renter's to account for all of the baby gear.

im not sure what we did! ha.i think we just did health and then his company did the others if there was others to do. ill ask him later if i remember.
oh and i wanted to tell you, call your local police station that is for your district and they usually schedule appts for carseat checks.
I have never heard of that. I was just adjusting our car insurance the other day (oddly I did it in person when I usually only do it over the phone but since I had the day off I stopped by their office) and she didn't say anything about the fact I was having a baby, even though it came up during chit chat. The only thing I can think of is making sure you are comfortable with your limits for uninsured motorist coverage since you will be driving around with an extra little person all the time now?
As for homeowners, I think it would again be your judgment call - make sure you are comfortable with your limits.
I would be more more worried about life insurance and legal issues (making sure you have a will and gaurdian(s) identified for your child, as well as the financial trust considerations).
The life ins and health ins are both taken care of through work.
I can understand the homeowners/condo/renters insurance concern with the additional "stuff" in the house. I will have to give them a call.
I looked on the car insurance's website and couldn't find anything about that, so I don't know if I'll call them or not.
Thanks for the input!
