Scrapbooking stores?

I want to make my wedding scrapbook (finally) but I need some training.  I was hoping to find a privately owned scrapbooking store that could give me more personal advice about how to build a scrapbook.  Michaels and Hobby Lobby are too impersonal for me.  And I like to support my local businesses!

Thanks!

(Oh, I live in Mariemont but I would drive wherever for a scrapbooking store--even Dayton)

Re: Scrapbooking stores?

  • I'm not a scrapbooker but those that do it say Archivers in Deerfield Township (Mason) is a really good place.  I've been in there for paper and stickers and they appear to have a really good selection.  Seems to me they have a decent selection of classes, too.

I'm not sure if it's a locally-owned place but if I wanted to take a class, I'd go there before I'd go to Michaels or Hobby Lobby.

  • There's a place in Fairborn but I've never been in there.  Archivers has a big work room in the back but you're only supposed to use paper that you buy from them.  I used to visit a Creative Memories person every now and then when she had open hours to use her stuff.

Some creative memory consultants hold "workshops", all day sessions where you can go test out their products, bring your projects and work on them with other scrap bookers.

  • Scraps, Etc! They are awesome!

They started as one store and expanded to several in the tri-state area. I think there is one near you, too.

Just a quick note - the Beechmont store has moved to Cherry Grove.

  • Oh, Cherry Grove is pretty convenient for me!  I'm going this week!
  • I am late since I was out of town last week, but I go to the Scraps Etc. in beechmont - now Cherry Grove for all of my scrapbooking stuff and I really love it!!

Also, the St. Thomas Moore Catholic church in Beechmont/Withamsville had a sign out last week that they were having a scrapbooking event soon. I don't have any details, I just remember seeing the sign...I think it was an all nighter or an all day thing through Creative Memories, but I am just guessing because I have been to one of them there before. You could try calling the church to see if they have any info for you?!?

  • I like Scraps, Etc, because it's local.  Archivers really is a great store too.  I also noticed today there is one on the corner of Fields Ertel & Montgomery (across from Sam's; in plaza with a furniture fair store).

  • There is Archiver's  (sp?) in Deerfield. There is also a place on Beechmont Ave (Scraps, etc. or something like that).
